I know I'm in a tiny minority here - and I mean no disrespect to the artists and their talent - but I'm not crazy about these murals everywhere. Just to confirm that I wasn't being a cranky old geezer, I checked with my 27-year-old daughter (who has a Ph.D in art history, so she know her art, yo). While she appreciated the work, she thought it a bit ghetto. Is that what we're going for here?

Fintan Magee...its called "remembering the clouds" and it looks even cooler when the lot is full of cars.

He's a great guy as well.

GVM004 @ Pep Boys in Newport: 20140902-IMGP9669 The Villain's got plans to do that entire wall to the right, the one facing the light rail tracks. Zimmer @ GVM003, 51 Fairmount: 20140902-IMGP9674 Lee: 20140902-IMGP9689 If you live in the Beacon and have binoculars, you can look at the window and peep the whole row.

Is anyone familiar with permits/etc that might be needed to do a mural? I'm interested in getting a mural painted on one of the walls in our parking lot. I'm not sure if the rules would be different since we're in the historic district, and since it's not street-facing.

People have been trying to get murals in Jersey City for a few years. It just took some time for the city to finally catch on.

Jersey City is getting more street (art) cred, according to Gregory D. Edgell, founder local arts organization of Green Villain and one of this week's #HudsonCelebs.

Edgell, who moved to JC in 2009, spoke with StreetArtNYC.org about his initiative to get more murals on Chilltown walls.

"Jersey City has the potential to be just as creative as any neighborhood in NYC. It could even be more so, as it?s not as expensive. Within the next five years, this will happen!" says Edgell.

Edgell also discussed the Mana Museum of Urban Arts, which will be the world's first permanent space dedicated to street art and graffiti and is set to soon open at Mana Contemporary, 888 Newark Ave., by Journal Square.

While Edgell is also a DJ and facilitates other concerts and events, he has also worked as a curator and has helped artists create murals all over Jersey City. He's currently working on a series with the likes of Sheryo and the Yok, Rubin, Jerkface, Mr. Mustart, Distort and Then One.

StreetArtNYC's feature on Edgell also includes pictures of murals by Rime (aka Jersey Joe), Post, Li Hill, Mata Ruda and LNY, Sean Lugo, SP.One and Enoe.

Didn't the MUA clean up a possible Banksy in JC? Mountain to climb I'd say.
