They were at the "Abatements for all festival" on Newark between Grove and Erie. When legions of mini-vans loaded with improperly taxed residents attempted to disembark at the PATH with their strollers, Fulop supporters heckled them, chanting "Abate this" as they tossed their PILOT-laden tax receipts into the air as confetti.

Maybe the police was doing something more important than catering to nonsecular activities that the public shouldn't be providing security for at no cost anyway.

Between this and the back-to-back uses of "peak" instead of "peek" on another thread, I am really loosing it!

You are correct, it should have been people's home but if the police promised services, then they don't show up and accidents occurs is the city liable? Tonnele and St. Paul have aggressive drivers. There have been accidents on those blocks in recent years. I am sure the city will assign police officers when they close Newark Avenue so downtown business can make more profit. Why should taxpayers pay for that? And shouldn't businesses who profit from the closing receive a tax bill similar to the Colgate Redevelopment Plan. The city gave tax bills then.

Grammatical issues aside, does the church pay any of the police overtime expenses associated with this parade? Because I'm sick of all these parades that cost police overtime for which taxpayers have to pick up the bill. I don't even care how wonderful the parade was or how well behaved the attendees were (don't get me started on the Puerto Rican parade & festival).
