This place has finally opened, its a mixture of Asian spices, hot sauces, and fish oils. They also carry lots of Asian fruits
Mangosteen. ...
Langsat. ...
Jackfruit. ...
Wood Apple. ...
Snake Fruit. ...
Star Fruit.and veggies amaranthus, Chinese spinach, edible amaranth, wild blite, careless weed but also lots of nuts, apples and Latin and Caribbean spices. . It reminds me of Tender shoot when it was more basic and not so trendy.

The prices are better than good. I don't think its worth the trip up here because you can probably get most of the items they carry else where but for people who live here this is a game changer.

What? Old timers opposed to new businesses and progress? That can't be right... Surely you are mistaken.

I drove by that space a few times ?the coming soon signage is up and it says Mira Fruit Farm. It doesn?t say anything about an Asian Market.

The new school next to it is really coming along. It is amazing to see the progress. That is going to be one big school.

The rumor I heard at the time was that Lefrak raised the rent so much that it drove out the HK supermarket, and Target came in.

The Asian market had a sublease from a sporting goods store the failed in that location. I would go in there and spend hours looking at all the foods they imported from all over the world especially the items from eastern Europe. When Target offered more money for the space LeFrak pulled the lease.

however to get there from downtown jersey city took more than 30 mins for 4 miles of driving!!!! the traffic was insane on communipaw to get on 440 and that's on a sunday.

I don't understand what's happening...but no amount of food is worth this aggravation. Also don't understand why they don't open up one of those supermarkets in downtown jersey city, most of the people who are shopping there are from downtown jc anyway.

Good store, horrible location.

What don't you understand? This market's customers live near the market, not in dtjc yuppie town. Ya know, the thousands upon thousands of Asian shoppers who's majority reside in Wards A, B, C & D (and maybe in F) really don't care if this market isn't convenient to the tiny geo area that is dtjc. Get over yourself.

and the main customers that once occupied Marin Blvd mostly moved uptown, even though some folks don't believe that. hahaha

I didnt know target was an asian food market back then, when I moved here about 8 years ago it was already target (i think). Doubt lefrak is trying to discourage asians, their entire rental is full of asians.

Do I understand that this new place will also be called Mira Fruit Market but will be an Asian grocery? Since I only get to the one on 440 when my neighbor moves his car at 10ish, and we go for a spin, most of the fish and prepared foods are not ready. Looking forward to a place near a light rail station.

After the movie theater closed it was a bowling alley, then a
Murry's Steak store, storage for Peckmans, and a used furniture store.

Not to my knowledge, I pass the site regularly and there is quite a bit of progress on the construction and it looks good. Its amazing what they did to an old movie theater. I assume since they are dealing with JC for permits, inspections etc is being done is JC time, which can be a few more weeks, or few more months(I hope not). I am guessing since this is a renovation job and not new construction it takes a bit longer due to codes and inspections.

Please keep us posted!!! Sounds like an easy trip from downtown.

I have to ask: is it a safe walk from the light rail to this location? Not familiar with this neighborhood.

I think this part of town would be OK without parking due to so much street parking. We do not have abundance of cars on the streets since we all have driveways/garages.
