Both Iron Monkey and Zeppelin Hall should clean their tap lines far more often. Barcade does it right, so does White Star.

Agree about the Iron Monkey, whatever I order has the same stale taste, its perplexing, as they are clearly making an effort with a large sleection of craft beer, but something is just wrong.

+1. Never ceases to amaze me how bars make the effort of having a huge selection of beers and then serve it all out of filthy taps. Same goes for Iron Monkey. No point in priding yourself on all the beers you have on tap when they all have a piss aftertaste.

MMmm.. I'm pretty sure its not the taps. The beers taste off because they now serve in plastic mugs that get washed and scratched up. The plastic totally interferes with the taste of the beer. You can ask them for glass when you go there, they will give it to you.
From what I understand, when they first opened their really great glasses were constantly stolen and broken and a few months in they switched entirely to plastic. Its gross, after much complaining from people they now have the glass but by default give people plastic unless you ask for it.

To those disagreeing about the inclusion of Zepplin on the list, the article clearly says "According to data collected by Foursquare, these are the most popular bars in all 50 states..Each bar was determined by number of check-ins in 2013 and overall

No one went around trying out different bars to rank which is best. This is largely a Foursquare checkin popularity contest. Given that Zep is a large beer garden, it's not really a surprise.

Can't speak for all of NJ but as far as JC is concerned I'd put this dump near the bottom of the list, next to Tilted Kilt. Take your pick: overpriced big mugs of stale beer from staff who could give a crap, or pints at OK prices with 25 TVs in your face served by women in riduculous costumes and gravity-defying bras?

Agreed. I used to go to Zeppelin on the occasional summer late afternoon, but the drafts are consistently off. Worse, the bartenders push back when I point this out. I would pick many places as the best bar in JC ( never mind NJ) before Zeppelin, starting with the New Park Tavern.

JC has a spot on this list ")

Do you agree?

P.S. I love the The Raleigh Times Bar, good times.
