You might also consider contacting the JC Landmarks Preservation Board--they give out preservation awards every year. I doubt they'd give specific recommendations but could give you the names and info of the award winners, who could then point you to their contractors.

You might want to contact Dan or Brian at the Historic Office, 201-547-5010 or 5050.

While I am sure they cannot recommend specific contractors they may be able to give you contacts for contractors they have worked with.

I suppose you could also look at Angies List, though i dont know how helpful that would be.

Can anyone recommend a licensed contractor who can do wood exterior work to historic standards? It's a permitted job and working from architectural drawings.
