A different perspective

In my youthful years doing small reno work, I came across a guy who tagged and graffitied his own apartment that he had leased - It was a tactic to protest against the landlords lack of maintenance.
It worked and the landlord made the necessary maintenance and the apartment looked great afterwards - I suspected the landlord made an insurance claim !

what? Find me a single person that would defend anyone tagging up cars.

Want to make art? Tag your own home/property or buy some canvas. Otherwise, you're just an idiot who THINKS you have talent and/or a point of view, both of which you lack.

On my dead end street, several parked cars were tagged on several occasions. Whatever color spray paint was used. This guy sprayed lines and circles all around these parked cars. Probably 15-20 cars in total on 5 or 6 occasions. This all happened around 4 am. The final time he did it i was able to get a clear image of his face.(Yes. I have cameras on my property)... It was pretty much over for him. This guy, white middle aged man, lived right up the street!!!! Instead of gathering a mob and getting some street justice I called JCPD. Spoke to them, they viewed the video, got a copy of the CD, and we then walked right over to the TURDS house, knocked on the door and when he opened, I said yes Officer, that is him. Off to jail he went along with restitution for all his victims. He became so afraid knowing that people know knew it was him. Turd did move shortly, after 20 years of him living in this Great Heights neighborhood. His reason for spray painting the cars..... I had no place to park my car so Iand wanted to create parking.... NOT IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD!!!

Yes, Area_Man. Graffiti with a purpose, on a designated area for that purpose, is art and can be awesome. I never claimed otherwise. What I find annoying is people who want to defend the defacing acts of some of the graffiti "artists". Like I said, anyone who puts graffiti on private property (without permission) is a criminal.

I saw purple spraypaint initials in hamilton park this morning at the southwest corner on the "cobblestone" near the entrance. Also the "pet" on the "pet-free zone" was crossed out with purple spraypaint.

Painting a mural in the graffiti style IS art created by artists.

Spray painting someone's car is destructive

big difference.

If your car or property is vandalized, please report it. I've noticed a lot of graffiti downtown in the past 6 months, and it will only be addressed if it's reported.

Thanks JCPD for fast response and cleaning suggestion.

As a 25 year resident of the city (Heights), I have never seen such abysmal tagging and lack of property respect from this now batch of low life's who are clueless about "graffiti etiquete".

I grew up in the Bronx in the 70's during the crowning days of graffiti . Believe it or not, there were some unwritten rules when it came to tagging.

No schools, churches, peoples personal property. Never someones car or house. What these idiots lack in skill, they doubly lack in brain power and historic knowledge.

Anyways,...go to home depot and buy a can of Goof Off (purchased right in the spray can section). It works incredibly well and will take it right off your car.

Bug or fly spray repellent to get tags or graffiti off metal and plastic surfaces works a treat.

My car, which was parked on 9th St. between Coles and Monmouth, was sprayed with purple spray paint last night. Two other cars were hit as well. There is a light grey Pilot which the police recorded, but the owner is unaware. If your car was hit, try a magic eraser and some simple green.
