Monroe - I thought this thread was originally for a recommendation for a happy hour in JC? I have nothing against Edgewater - it has some decent restaurants. But the last thing I want to do when I am thinking of happy hour is get in a car and drive.

Flemings in Edgewater again yesterday for the win. The $6 plate of carpaccio was unreal, a large plate covered with the thinly sliced raw filet, crisscrossed with a creamy sauce, mounded in the center with plenty of greens and basil, and surrounded by 6! large slices of toast to pile it all onto. The $6 prime Manhattan with premium bourbon was excellent, as was the Stiletto my g/f had, a very generous pour of Hendricks gin over muddled blackberry and sour mix and ginger ale. The unlimited house made potato chips are also wonderful.

I went to Tilted Kilt under Gull's Cove for the first time Tuesday night hoping to experience half off Tuesdays. Unfortunately they discontinued it for now, the manager said it may come back in January. However, the promotion in November is happy hour drink specials all night. It includes the $1 small beers but also $3 large and some shot specials.

The restaurant was way better than I expected from reading all the horrible reviews everywhere. Staff was friendly but slow (slowness was expected since it's in JC) and the entrees came before we were close to done with our app. Girls were also not as fat as to ruin your appetite. Food tasted like typical chainfare (eg chili's, friday's, applebee's)

Here's another suggestion, but a bit west-take 280W to Pleasant Valley Way/Millburn (the street that inspired the song Another Pleasant Valley Sunday, btw) and cross Northfield Avenue, make a left into the complex of the Turtle Back Zoo golf/McLoone's Boathouse. Drop dead gorgeous, rustic-esque/Craftsmen design, great views.

In desperate need of a drink after work. Had a hell of a night. I get out at 11pm, any recommendations on where to go?

Flemings is a great deal... usually hit that special and then catch an early movie at the Edgewater Theater next door.

We had a few of the $1 Yuenglings at the Tilted Kilt yesterday, they are 14 oz. Of course, the air conditioning was broken so we didn't stay long.

Not always. Many pubs, including the TK, offer a "continetntal pint" of 20oz. Their happy hour size isn't even a full US pint, at 14oz. Still a steal during happy hour.

The JC Tilted Kilt has $1 domestic drafts 3-7 weekdays. Not a full 20oz pint but still a bargain. Not sure if Hoboken does the same.

Hamilton Inn has half price draught beer weekdays from 4-7 (and one night, maybe Thursday, Happy Hour is all night). They might have wine and cocktail deals also. You can get a pint of Guinness for $3 and enjoy it at one of their outdoor tables.

York Street Tavern has $1.50 cups of beer (changing selection of domestics, i think) and half price appetizers until 8pm. The cups are probably 8oz but they don't frown on ordering two at once :) so you can have your pint! And you can sit outside.

I believe the Lamp Post has two-for-one drafts and well drinks every weekday 3-7. :)

Zeppelin Hall and Beer Garden. 50 - 70 different beers, all draft. From 4 to 7 they do happy hour with all beers selling for 50% off. At happy hour prices, some brews are cheaper to drink there than to buy them at the store!

Also, there is Azucar, which I think is the best-kept secret in terms of low-price happy hour: Monday through Thursday (or, Friday, not sure) all their draft beers are $2. Ambiance can be hit or miss, and their beer selection is limited, but getting an icy cold Palm for $2 is a steal.
