Our new mayor was shaking hands at the top of the escalators at Grove Street, he just won the election two days ago. NJ.com ran this story http://www.nj.com/jjournal-news/index ... tys_mayor-elect_says.html this last few sentences at the end of the article: ..."After taking questions from the media, Fulop stood at the top of the escalator at the PATH station to greet commuters and thank them for their support.

After about 15 minutes, a Port Authority police officer told Fulop he was standing too close to the escalator and needed to move farther away."........

I read this at least ten minutes ago and I am still laughing. My heartfelt thanks to you for injecting some much needed brevity into a thread that had taken an ugly turn.
I shall not squander this good fortune by responding to the racists, trolls and naysayers among you. I do feel a little discombobulated that some of you chose to attack me for merely suggesting that completely blocking the egress between the PATH station and Newark Ave might not be for the best, however, Blanquita's stunning bon mot has reminded me of the unique power humor holds to bring low even the grandest and most arrogant of men.
It is with this thought in mind that I will now refrain from discussing this issue any further until I have attended a Groove on Grove session, checked out the bands and witnessed the proceedings for myself.

I will have that ice cream.
I will have that beer.
I will reassess my thoughts and report back here.

I like the cut of your jib, James. See you at The Grove.

Plan your transit to appointments appropriately! Remember, with a little personal sacrifice you too can use the 2 other path entrances if the grove plaza one is congested. Stay strong.

Thank you. Yes. There are moving escalators with people constanting getting off them at a set speed.

Rope off the entrance to the PATH station for 300 people and divert 2k people for those 2 hours to an entrance/exit farther away. This makes complete sense.

I have a better idea. Let's just close the PATH for those 2 hours so everyone can enjoy what makes JC the best place to live! It'll be great. Who will not enjoy the performances of great bands such as Break the Atmosphere or Sandra Small & The Small world Band. They minus well be the beatles.

His being Jewish was irrelevant to the point you were making so bringing it up, in the context of labeling him with an epithet , is bigotry. Since you are complaining about his doing exactly the same thing, you are also a hypocrite.

Let me get this straight: This public event, available free to anyone who wants to go, is selfish?

An open-air concert with food services and independent artists that brings hundreds of people together is anti-social?

A large gathering in the middle of a public square is dangerous, because it impedes your access to get to one of three separate entrances?

And c'mon people, let's be nice here. English Majors need to get to work too.

ahhh came for entertainment was not disappointed.
Thank you JustJames.

It just takes some planning to take care of your timing.

Do i go out to Hoboken during Lepre-tard-fest? NO
Do i know ahead of time of train delays, cancellations, construction, parades, etc so i can plan my commute with ease - YES

Surely you didn't miss all the signs and posters all over JC with these amazing things the city has to offer. Even facebook, twitter, and other sites are littered with these announcements. Time to stop running to places and look around buddy, no excuse for your poor planning.

I'm one of those folks who moved to downtown so I can commute in and out of the city. I also happen to have been one of those "300 people" who stopped to enjoy the show. it was a pleasant surprise to find the lively performance waiting at the top of the escalator. I too had somewhere to go. but I took the time to have a cold beer and listen to a few songs before heading on. I agree that the layout seemed less thought out than I remember - I hope they work this out. although, based on the language used, I doubt the readjustment of a few stalls would satisfy the original poster.

James kind of opened himself to it when he described "Spanish gentlemen, possible inebriated..." in his post. That's pretty prejudicial and unnecessary.
