Thanks for the info. I guess the information I received was incorrect. Please accept my apologies for the misinformation.

I agree and how do they screen potential under-handed residents ?

Not to mention that Fulop lives on this block... I am assuming the renovation of those buildings would only help his property value.

The nyc-jc rental people seem to be targeting a more upscale seasoned traveler clientele (as opposed to the budget travel crowd air bnb might target). Very service oriented - they offered us tours of their spaces when we called. We are recommending them to guests for our wedding because they are a little cheaper than a hotel and groups can get a 2-3 bedroom with a kitchen instead of hotel suites.

I guess they were OK with it because they were previously vacant for a REAL looooonnnnggggg time. These guys ripped the front off the two buildings and complete rebuilt the entire facade with new cinder block and then refaced with red brick. They are rebuilding the stoops this week.

Meanwhile, at the complete opposite end of the row (closer to Washington St), there is a row house for sale. I called the number on the sign and they already had offers for over a million, but it is uninhabitable according to the real estate agent (who is also the lawyer) for the seller. It is a legal 6 family, but it currently broken into 10 separate units now; it must have been a boarding house or something years ago. I know for a fact that it has sat empty for well over 10 years.

Bed & Breakfast, vacation spots...they might as well make them all rentals. Agreed. A lot of people are also renting out rooms in their condos/apartments via https://www.airbnb.com/ and there is not much anyone (neighbors) can do about it.

Oh yes there is...I bet the city division of zoning and the housing code authority would be highly interested in these actions, not to mention the insurance and mortgage companies.

I heard it is supposed to be a Bed & Breakfast. This outfit:
http://www.nyc-jc.com/ currently leases some major space in 70 Greene and rents out the apartments as vacation alternatives to hotels. I typically see tons of europeans with luggage, etc. coming and going on my way to/from work. Anyway, 70-72 Essex is supposed to be an expansion of their operations.

I was given this information by one of my neighbors who has her finger on the pulse of Paulus Hook real estate.

It looks like they are doing a nice job with the place though.

Anyone have any updates on these places (which look close to being done)? Will they be rentals or condos?

Does anyone know what's going on with those 2 buildings? There's scaffolding up & work being done but I can't seem to find out if they will be sold, rented, etc?
