Thanks Josiered! We're tired of picking up the garbage on the street, looking for parking and avoiding dog poop on the sidewalks. And at some point I want to have a kid or two and not worry about sending them to public school. looking in Rutherford and Nutley but it's going to be a big change for us.

OMG give me a break.....I said constructive criticism and YES the clientele at Abbeys is white trash. Been there to know the difference. If that's your gig fine - but the staff is totally incompetent, the patrons are nothing more than gutter scum. I use to think it was just my opinion until I asked friends in the neighborhood what they thought - their reaction was "oh God how can you stand that place".....so I knew it wasn't just me. I do appreciate finding informative information on this site. However, stating facts about a low life hookah bar isn't negativity, just truth. There are some things on this site that actually tell it like it is? Any questions?

I do wish you luck in finding a place in the burbs. However, this is what the JC listers are looking for. Apparently if you don't like what they write they say "move to the burbs". Well God Bless - I hope you find a beautiful neighborhood to live in. I grew up in the "burbs" as they say and now envy you. I hope to return there in the next couple of years. There is something to be said about tranquility, peace and quiet and people that are just "nice beyone compare". Enjoy the quality of life you will certainly find in the BURBS!". You will not find that "quality" of life in Jersey City because it does not exist.

You said it all - I've read and posted numerous posts but the negativity on JC list tops all. I thought posting would "inform" the neighbors/area but still got beat up for what I post. I do see however that the constant posters really live on JC list. Unfortunately I have a job and a LIFE so I cannot devote 10 hrs. a day to commentation and ripping someone a "new one". I do find certain things informative but for the most part have found JC list to be a forum for those unemployed JC listers to vent frustration and anger and take it out on anyone who dares to confront them. They have negative attitudes and sit by their computers all day long just waiting like peronas in a fish tank. I think it is sad that this is ALL THEY HAVE TO DO DURING THE DAY. We accept constructive criticism but to bash everyone because you have nothing else to do is pathetic.

I've been here a long time, in this forum and in Jersey City. Unfortuantely there has always been an underlying negativity that permeates this place. After awhile you just learn to ignore it and let it roll off your back. I agree with you this is a great resource we're lucky to have it. Just ignore the haters and don't get sucked into the bs. I often lurk for a good chuckle and rarely post that's how I deal with it. JCList is entertaining and informative. On a different note, we're looking to move out of Jersey City into the suburbs. Every town we check out I'm looking for a community message board or forum like this and it just doesn't exist.

thank you all. Its never too late for anything. And to answer one of you, no I am not new to the internet. I have been on many forums and everyone has an opinion thats cool. What is not cool is when you trash one another for their opinion and that I statnd by.

Hate to be cynical but this website has a reputation for being a trolls paradise. I've been at community functions where the joke is the "positivity on JC list" (insert eye roll). Take what you can get from it (new window guy, plumber recommendation, when the farmer's market's are and at what location etc., new restaurant openings, crime alerts), but I'd be cautious about exerting your energy to rectify a website that seems inevitably to go south with snide comments (as you'll soon witness when someone responds to my points in detail). Unfortunately the haters will hate - esp. here. You will quickly find that a majority of the negativity is lost in ignorance... best to just provide the opinion you see fit and move forward. I love the fact that your first comment on this post is ridiculous - but VA makes a good point... people will say anything when they don't face their contender.

Hello Everyone. I signed up for JC List and you all may consider me a newbie. I joined to learn more about what people are saying in the neighborhood.
Truly as I read some of the posts, I found we all are very critical of each other from the spelling of a word, to how another feels about gentrification to how even I felt about the Erie Police Station. Aren't we here to support one another in Jersey City? Or are we here to be super critical. JC list offers us an opportunity to give conversation that forwards things in the neighborhoods downtown and around Jersey City rather than knocking each other's opinion. We all have great ideas. Let move those forward. No I am not being airy fairy. I just find that complaining doesn't solve a damn thing and we can be using this forum to keep people aware of whats going on. NOt slamming people on grammar and their opinions. I think JC list is really cool and committed that the JC List people have a forum where they are listened to not just heard and respected and that no question or idea is stupid. What do you all think? We are lucky to have this forum folks.
