As someone who goes to Secacuas every other day, I take JFK and Secaucus RD.

Where in Secaucus are you going? I wouldn't take 1/9 at all due to the traffic by Manhattan ave.

If you are going to mill creek mall.. Get on JFK turn on Secaucus rd and go all the down, right on county road, and right on paterson plank rd and left at the first light take you to mill creek.

Another option go on JFK to Nelson Ave which becomes Paterson Plank

Hi guys,
Anyone know of a faster way to get from down Jersey city (Grand and Barrow) to Secaucus? I just got a new job there and am finding that it takes me 10 minutes more to drive 6 miles up then it did to drive 26 miles to to my previous job in Edison. I have already tried montgomery to summit and JFK and neither of really worked out.

Thanks guys. I have tried newark ave to 139, to JFK boulevard and that seems to be the best one so far. For those who asked, I am right across the Mill Creek mall on route 3.

I use a few principles:

1. Use Tonnelle outside rush hours and past 139
3. Use Kennedy/Paterson if game-off.
3. Use Kennedy/Secaucus if game on.

Not sure what part of DT you live in and where in Secaucus you are heading to but I would take 18th St. going west to end then turn right onto Hoboken Ave. wrapping around to the State Hwy (139) make first right (right turn lane) onto Palisade Ave. going north (Heights section) or go straight for 3 blocks and make a right onto Oakland Ave. going north then turn left onto Jefferson Ave. going west to end then make a right onto Summit Ave. going north. Either turn left onto Zabriskie St. going west or stay on Summit and when you get to Secaucus Rd. (city border) turn left going west all the way into the town of Secaucus which now you will be on County Rd. eventually passing the N.J. state car inspection station crossing County Ave.

This reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, when Kramer was imitating Moviefone. Except it is you and Google Maps.

No Google maps here just been taking that car route for years.

I think you can shave off a few minutes if you make a left on Carlton just a few blocks before Manhattan. You don't have that light in the middle of the block (Liberty Ave I believe).

Yeah I drive in that direction too, it sucks and there really is no quick route. I take Newark Ave up the high school, make a right on Palisade, the make a left on 139, then right on JFK, left on Manhatten Ave. I continue on to 1&9 and route 3, but if you're going to Secaucus you can take the first jug handle after Manhatten Ave to drive into Secaucus and mostly avoid 1&9. Years ago I used to take tonnelle circle, but now I avoid that at all costs, that construction project was such a waste and made the traffic worse!

After over 15 years in Jersey City we've decided to move, partly due to the traffic in JC.
