A Jersey City man was arrested at a Jersey City bar Wednesday night after police attempting to control a large crowd discovered he had two warrants out for his arrest, reports state.

At 8:04 p.m. on Wednesday, police noticed more than 100 "unruly" people standing outside Jordan's Lounge at 247 Newark Ave., reports state. Police said that some people were drinking outside the bar and blocking the sidewalk.

After instructing the crowd to clear a path on the sidewalk, officers entered the bar to speak with the promoter of the event at the bar, police said.

It was discovered the promoter had two outstanding warrants and he was arrested, reports said. Officers remained at the scene with K-9 units to keep the path open on the sidewalk and to ensure the crowd did not get out of control, reports state.

So I read the story on nj.com. Surprise surprise, none involved are from downtown. This kinda stuff doesn't (repeatedly) happen at the downtown bars that cater to downtown residents.

Funny I thought bars like Latin Lounge, Abbey's, Burkes etc were part of Downtown? Majority of the people in those bars are Downtown natives and locals.

Maybe not recently but they have in the past. When was the last shooting at Jordan's? The last one that comes to mind right away is the one where that crazy racist Downtown gun shop owner shot into the air when he got into an argument with actor/comedian Donnell Rawlings.

and this is the JJ piece about Jordans on Friday night.....

Responding to reports of a fight at Newark Avenue and Coles Street at 1:49 a.m., police found two spent shell casings lying in front of Jordan?s Lounge at 247 Newark Ave., police said.

Inside the nightclub, they found two shooting victims a 22-year-old Clerk Street resident with a bullet wound in his left hip, and a 27-year-old Skyline Drive resident who had a bullet through his left leg, reports said.

NO need for a ghetto gangsta bar in Jersey City any longer. Where does FULOP stand on this? His headquarters is a block away. He's just too busy fighting tax abatements to see this crap happening in front of his face.

I don't get why the owners of bars get blamed when someone decides to start a fight or shooting. If you notice every bar in this city with exception of Yuppie bars and bars with older crowds have violence problems. If you close down one bar it doesn't stop the violence it just moves it. Alot of the time it is the same people that frequent all the bars Jclist hates starting problems and they make up a small percentage of the people going. For example the man that committed the Ringside murder was also responsible for fights and brawls at Lagunas and Jordans.

Lagunas doesn't even allow 21 year old men into their bar they have a higher age limit on weekends. They pat you down for weapons on weekends also. They do these things because they don't want violence. The fact they are popular with a younger crowd means violence is hard to prevent.

Once this bar installed medal detectors they were doomed, for people who are saying this never happens, where the hell you live under a rock. This happens weekly in this city, from downtown to the heights. Wake up people! I am surprised this has not made to the news yet, they love to report anything and everything that happens on Ocean ave. I guess when crime happens downtown they like to keep it hush so the Manhattan yuppies don't run back to Manhattan. smh.

Far more shootings on Ocean ave then the whole Downtown do not make the paper. Articles about shootings, robberies and stabbings are cherry picked by the Jersey Journal. Way more then you think don't make the JJ, especially shootings in neighborhoods with more gun violence.

If anyone moved from Manhattan to Jersey City, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

As far as I've ever heard, the only way a JC bar is shut is if it's repeatedly caught serving minors. No amount of violence or disturbance will do it. I would love to hear that I'm wrong.

You're not wrong. I was at my Captains meeting for the North District (Heights section) the problem bar was the Luguna Lounge the Police captain stated he was there many times for all sorts of disturbances but all he could do was issue a ticket. He would love to close them down but it is out of his hands. The J.C ABC board has the power to shut down the bars and pull their license. Perhaps the community can pull together and push the ABC board to do so or even have them speak as a guest at a local block association meeting.

Has anyone seen anything on nj.com or other sites about this incident, or is Jersey City keeping this one under wraps for fear of bad publicity while Snookie is in town?

I was woken up by the gun shots, and I live about half a mile away. It sounded like they were right outside my place. The shots were loud and unmistakable. It sounded like there were more than four shots. Anyone know what happened to the person who was shot?

I heard the shots, too, at about 2:35 this morning. There is no mistaking the sound of gun shots. I live near City Hall, and the shots were loud enough, by me, that I thought they were emanating from a gun much closer to City Hall. I was also astounded by how much time elapsed before I started to hear sirens headed to the scene.

I live directly around the block and heard about 4 shots from my apartment on First St. Police presence was quite slow to the scene but they managed to clear the area in under 15minutes. Usually the patrons of this lounge a rowdy bunch with hardly any patrols through the area when the club lets out, making it a scary block to be on at 2am on a weekend.

There were gun shots fired and a man down in the middle of the street. I was in a cab on Newark Avenue on the way home. Thankfully, the cab driver reacted quickly and got us away.
