It's a shame they're thinking Texas BBQ - a half-way decent, Kansas City-style BBQ restaurant would make all of the money.

Nonsense. Everybody (except for midwesterns, apparently) knows that Texas BBQ (smoked, dry rub) is much, much better than KC style. Second best: North Carolina BBQ, with that awesome vinegar based sauce.

Memphis BBQ, or why bother?

Isn't there already a bunch of privately-owned homes on those cul-de-sacs (Laurel and Saddlewood Courts)? Not sure how someone could have bought them out unless they bought out all of the homeowners.

In the past, and maybe still, there was an organization called SALAMAPO - (as I recall) - maybe it owns the block or the owners of the houses were shareholders (like a co-op). SAndlewood,LAurel,MAple and POplar. In any case, the only thing that block has going for it, from my POV, is that it is low rise. The Marin side is always filthy. This, plus rumors that Villa Borinquen might get redeveloped poses a serious threat to another breach in the Marin high-rise limit.

The street off of 2nd has got some great iris that come up each year in the sidewalk "tree holes". Is it finally time to snag some tubers? Those things haven't been divided in... they've probably never been divided. So really, I'd be doing them a service...

There's a rendering somewhere on the website as well but I can't find it on my mobile...

On the one hand I love me some BBQ. On the other, having one within walking distance from my place can't really be good news for my health.

There's a banner that says "The Brunswick School" Infant thru kindergarten so I'm guessing some kinda daycare type thing?

I've heard almost 60 condos will be on that plot of land.

Whatever happened with the Atomic Wings lawsuit?

Jersey City settled the case brought by Atomic Wings for $60,000.

The settlement was approved by the city council on July 18, 2012.

Page 464 in the resolutions document here has the details: http://www.cityofjerseycity.com/uploa ... da%20Document%2813%29.pdf

The case file should be public - according to resolution above, the number is HUD L-2958-10.

Have not checked, but rumor mill has it that the case file contains several witness statements from a variety of JC business owners that have faced similar "obstructions" as well as "deals/concessions" some business owners had to make to pass inspections.

Am surprised that the settlement was not picked up by any news outlet.

I'm surprised at the amount. That's a pittance for the headache and heartache the Atomic Wings owner must have endured.

I believe the new administration has got a better handle at this. I know someone who actually raised the "multiple" "never-ending" inspections issue out in the open and things got clarified and wrapped up pretty quickly. One inspector nearly got fired. In the current climate, if you are not happy and some items keep popping up think of raising it up to the inspector management level or to your councilman/woman.

In the meantime, keep recording all conversations/drawings with your smartphone. That's certainly what I am doing. Fulop administration is supposedly all about quality control, let's help them meet this standard indeed.

It continues to baffle me that they are not required to keep a paper trail of their statements and be held to it, I've heard stories of them failing you but not ever saying why, "you should know". I advise everyone to make audio recordings of their inspections on their phones. I have one made recently that would blow your mind, inspector saying he wouldn't fail the new roof for flooding my building but I should have gotten a better contractor!
