Will probably avoid PitriDish Hot Dogs

saw they have italian HD on the menu at O'Hara's... not sure I'm daring enough to try it.

i used to work with a guy out in clifton that was obsessed with hot dogs...he would pick up hot dogs from the trucks on bloomfield ave in newark a lot and also bring us rutts hut during our lunch break.

locally:

boulevard drinks
(think they\'re disgusting, whatever, they\'re like having our own grays papaya minus the real fruit drinks.)

There's a Buff's in West Orange not far from the Edison museum. It's a fairly quick ride from J.C. 20 minutes. They make a mean sausage & pepper, potato and onions sandwich. It's served on a half of pizza bread. Actually Monmouth St. Deli does sausage on Mondays and Thursdays ans they have the pizza bread as well.

J.J.s Hot Dog Truck at Branch Brook Park on Bloomfield Ave, Newark. Since 1971.

Best CHILI too!

Rutts is very good as well.

Jimmy Buffs has a location downtown West Orange, Washington Street.

as long as we are doing a road trip let?s not forget this classic Stewart?s Root Beer in Kearny, NJ.

Check out it?s classic design in this website?.(need to go down a few pictures to get to it)

www.agilitynut.com/eateries/stew.html

The Kearny Stewart's has been here since 1949. They still have car hop service. In addition to the usual drive-in fare, they offer pierogies. The drive-in canopy looks like it was added in the 1960s. The outdoor dining area was added in 1999.

I like Blvd drinks hotdog with chili onions. I used to work by Rutt's Hut and drove by there a whole year before finding out its a top rated hotdog joint. I only came to know about by watching either the Foodnetwork or a PBS hotdog special.

I tried it a few times since then and I would still rate Blvd drinks higher than RuttsHut

Dickie Dee's is the ULTIMATE hot dog place. Years ago Ting-A-Ling's was down there too by Branchbrook Park and they were great. Dickie Dee's has been there as long as I can remember, still drive there from JC to get a great dog. For a local place Boulevard Rocks too !

I agree Boulevard Drinks rules. Sometimes as a back up though I go to Dickie Dee's in Newark. I usually get loaded at jsq pub then stuff my face at Boulevard Drinks, I know how to have a good time?

How about Pete's over by the park on Webster and Paterson Plank Rd. We usually call them Webster Dogs near North St. The place gets long lines on a warm Saturday afternoon, a dog and an orangeade.

Boulevard Drinks has been around longer than forever. I enjoy a good hot dog but the smell from there nauseated me when I was a little kid & still nauseates me now that I'm a big kid.

For the record the best hotdogs in the area is Boulevard drinks. Flat top seared franks cooked to perfection and the chili/onions are amazing (sweet and spicy). Anybody think differently?
