I agree with the above statement. We all know Halloween is the time to dress "slutily.

As I don't see myself taking the lightrail to Hoboken anytime soon, is there any parking available nearby the one that's already open? I drove around there once - around when it opened - and didn't see a single space, anywhere. As a bonus, there were also 2 police cars trailing me around the neighborhood the whole time, too (?).

I personally welcome this place in JC, if for only the reason that we could REALLY use a) a place to get some decent wings, and b) a decent sports bar. Dorian's is ok, but the bar area is way too small and otherwise, there really isn't anywhere to go to grab some grub, a brew or 3, and watch a game (scantily clad waitresses or not). Personally, I wish this would open closer to Journal Square, but I guess the immediate area around it isn't "gentrified" enough.

Edit: Lucky 7's has decent wings and a few TVs, but can get crowded fast. And I wouldn't call Zeppelin a sports bar at all, despite having the game on those huge screens.

been a few times as it's near my Light Rail stop - the beer is always cold and fresh. the food is actually pretty tasty for pub fare.... the guy bartenders are nice and accommodating. the teenage girls flaunting their boobs everywhere is distracting and a tad creepy.

Bad part of the bar is the "men" who always seem to be crowding the bar... loud, leering, dudes making inappropriate comments to girls wearing too little clothes....

It's not my scene so haven't been back.

The JC one has been open? Or are you talking about the Hobo one?

I just think it's out of place in the area where they are planning it. It's a fairly residential area and pretty quiet too. If this opened near Newport or even near Exchange Place, I wouldn't really blink an eye. You are right, it's totally sleazy, which is why I wouldn't patron a place like that. Hooters gets a bad reputation but the women are not dressed like the women in the picture above.

Sleazy. Where is the Scottish anti-defamation league on this?

Women should be able to wear whatever they want, but when they are objectified like this, it tends to attract some sad and ugly men.

I live near the MetroStop where one of these just opened. The developer who sold Hoboken this crap used photos of Amelia's as an example of the kind of retail that they would bring. The property is directly adjacent to the 9th St HBLRT station. It was in the Hoboken city plan as a public plaza, but the private property was never acquired by the city after the light rail stop opened, and then MetroHomes came in and got a ton of variances from the city. The retail has sat empty for years, and then this is what they bring in? Sleazy.

wow, sounds just like when i worked for a little irish (ball and chain chain) restaurant called bennigan's, minus the boobies.

also, this "WOW" service is a ripoff of applebee's terminology. maybe this manager worked for one of the applebee's franchises and is using it as a protocol for this chain...

I understand, but a cheap gimmick can be rejected simply on the grounds that it?s a cheap gimmick. Our nation?s [official] treatment of sexuality and nudity with generally unenlightened caution no doubt contributes to the bizarre desire to combine T&A with hamburgers in the first place.

Oh yeah, a really slutty maid! Dylan McDermott yelled at the character about how she's dressed up like a crazy weird fetish maid. It's a great show. Nothing like seeing Dylan McDermott, naked and maturbating and crying at the same time in the pilot. LOL.

And I have a toddler, and she's seen me naked. You don't get much privacy when you live in a tiny apartment.

There's a slutty maid on that show!!? Maybe it's time I gave it a shot.

The nudity at home thing is way more interesting than the stupid restaurant. I was raised where you saw NO ONE naked past toddler age. I don't even recall seeing my brother or dad naked. My wife on the other hand was raised in the Scandinavian influenced north midwest, and is totally chill. On the whole I think the latter gives kids less hang ups, and they really do learn on their own when to keep their clothes on.

Yes, I'm a woman and my kids (who are girls) have seen me change in my room and have walked into the bathroom while I am showering or peeing. I also have nursed my kids and OH THE HORROR they have seen me do that. And who says that I don't have kids who are not potty trained?

My point was, I'm not a prude and I'm aware of porn on the internet. And yes, I've read articles on Gawker and Jezebel etc about the porn industry as well. I think you have a total misunderstanding of what Quakers are. Depending on what sect of Quaker you're from, or where you grew up, Quakers can either be very conservative (like in the midwest or Africa) or they can be very liberal people that range from free-love hippies to civil rights advocates. Most of the Quakers along the East Coast, even down South, are of the liberal mindset, and as such wouldn't have a problem with the place. Don't talk shit if you don't know shit. Quaker 4 lyfe yo.

Not really, but I think you?re feigning a total misunderstanding of an obvious point that ultimately has nothing to do with Quakers.

1. Not even the most effeminate dude in JC would name himself "snowflake20".

2. Not even the most awful boring dad in JC would take every chance possible to talk about his kids online, as snowflake20 does. It's a woman.

That said, as a former child of parents, please folks: Don't let your kids see you naked. They do not want to see that shit.

1. I call everyone dude as do my girlfirends. Obviously snowflake20 is a mother or at least seems to be here on the internet.
2. I don't jhang out here enough to know about that.
3. Agree. After toilet training kids should not see adults naked unless it's in the swmming pool shower.

Take your kids to Applebee's. Please let there be SOME place in the Hoboken/JC area that isn't overrun by offspring, and the parents who think said crotch-fruit can do no wrong.

I havnt been to a whole lot a places in Downtown in recent years. Has it really gotten as bad as Hoboken? I hate to even lump Jersey City in the same sentence as Hoboken (not sure why you did either), just makes me have heartburn thinking that their are any similarities between the two.

Hey, if this place opens, I'll try it out at least once. Jersey City can use a little excitement now and then.

For those who are offended by this concept, don't go there and don't look at it. And for those who oppose the place because it happens to be XXX number of feet from an elementary school or a "family friendly neighborhood", the kids won't see anything from the outside. Get a grip, this is a city, not the quiet clean safe residential suburbs, so if you don't like it you can move.

They probably didn't run into as many roadblocks at the buildings department as Atomic Wings did. Sex sells, after all.

why do your kids see you all the time, weirdo?

And I don't think they're going for family-friendly, obviously. So I don't think you should feel obligated to defend yourself. Hooters bills itself as family friendly, and they honestly aren't dressed too provocatively, especially compared to this place.

While an uncomfortable relationship with the human body is common for Americans, the position that our children will be negatively affected if they see a half a boob is still a load of crap. What has decades of that attitude gotten us? At best, a desperate fascination with cheap titillation.

The restaurant employs a pathetically cheap concept so we can reject it for simply being cheap, not for its potential to appall Quakers who will never step foot inside.

Nixon was a Quaker
In name and by birth only. The guy didn't even abide by one of the main principals of Quakerism, which is peace. He wanted to freaking nuke Vietnam. He also applied to be in the Navy during WWII. When he grew up he made his own brand of Quakerism, where pacifism and equality didn't apply. After those tapes were released of his rants in the Oval Office, hundreds of Quaker meetings around the country called for his meeting house to disown him.
