I'm not saying that it's not possible. Hell, I was actually punched in the face randomly walking home from a bar when I was living in Philly. In that situation I was clearly drunk, walking down a dark street, alone, and walked right passed a group of porch monkeys. Did I do anything to initiate it? Nope, but it still happened.

It's striking to me how busy that particular part of Grove is and that anyone would be brazen enough to act a fool with all the night lifers around.

Stupid is as stupid does I guess.

Actually, when my neighbor's girlfriend was mugged about a year ago - they just came up and hit her. Someone else told me a few years back someone tried to mug him and started by just sucker punching him. Either a way to catch you off guard or to stun you. Be careful out there.

Yeah it kind of fits the pattern. Last year a friend was walking home on Coles or Monmouth and a car came up, a guy got out, threw her to the ground and then the car sped off.

Its random acts of violence.

yeah, there was that shooting on wayne near grove a couple of weeks ago too. i thought for sure there had to be more info, rather than a random shooting with no police action (i heard the shots, didn't believe it was gunshot sounds, especially when i saw no police activity or canvassing or anything of that sort).
while there still might be info i don't know about, what i have seen/heard leads me to believe that the police indeed don't give a s**t.

so perhaps we do need to step up our awareness out there...

And what would that be?

I'm trying really hard to remember if I've ever met a hispanic male with dreadlocks. I'm coming up with nothing.

A friend of mine was just assaulted on Grove Street in front of the Majestic by two black males and a hispanic male with dreadlocks, approximately 20 years of age. They through a punch at him. He kept walking and they continued in the opposite direction.

Be careful out their, the local cops think we live in the "country club" and don't bother doing anything downtown.

Crime is down!

Enjoy your property tax bill and vote HCDO!
