Umm, at 10th and Grove, though to be fair it is the stretch of Grove that's renamed Manila.

I just walked over to this market because I forgot a few things at the supermarket. It's nice, well organized, and well stocked. They've got the produce I've been hoping for (I wish it was organic, but you can't have everything), along with all the basics and more. Lots of Indian products, too, and a deli. Unlike its predecessor, this market really takes advantage of the space.

Neer mind! This was an old post for the old space... LOL. I was like, where the heck is this market that is closing. Glad they closed and the new owners opened.

I really wish businesses that went 24/7 would do a better job of advertising the fact. They never do, and then are SHOCKED, I mean, SHOCKED, that no one shows up late at night.

Remember when Duane Reade was 24/7 ALL summer long last year? Probably not. Or the on again, off again 24/7 schedule of Dunkin and McDonalds?

Fruits and vegetables of all sorts? That's what I've been waiting for in a local market. The coop is nice but a little out of my budget.

We stopped in this weekend while walking about. The new store is sooo much better.

The prices are good and the selection is much better than the shops on Newark Ave. There is a nice selection of goods for Indian cooking, but the focus is mainstream. It's much better than the Hamilton Park Coop or C-Town. It's not Garden of Eden in Hoboken, but certainly the best grocery we've seen in town.

I hope they make it. We will definitely be shopping there frequently.

Can someone start a new thread for them -- this one is about the old place closing -- any web links or photos would really help too! Maybe a google map

Wow, I would really love to have a 24-hour market in the lower Grove Street area. But I guess this one is not too far.

Prime Food Market has opened in the old space of Hamilton Park Market at the corner of 10th St & Manila Ave.

I noticed this place was open yesterday so I stopped in for a look. It's a small-sized grocery store (smaller than C-Town, bigger than Tendershoot) with a deli and good amount of quality foods. The place is well lit and doesn't feel cramped or dirty like a lot of the bodegas in town.

Prime seems geared toward the Indian market but they certainly aren't limited to just that. They have fresh fruits and vegetables of all sorts, a nice selection of cheeses, and a large freezer section. I didn't try any of the hot food but there were nice looking lunch options as well.

Best part? Open 24 hours! Nice to have when everything else in the neighborhood closes at 5pm on Sundays.

Perhaps I am biased, but I don't think they were getting that many people (if any) from Newport so they were really serving Hamilton Park.

You're totally correct. Who the heck from Newport would schlep their way through the mall to 10th and Marin to this store when the ShopRite as well as Target (with the new cold grocery section) is a closer walk? 99% of the people from Newport probably never knew this place existed.

I would also add that 99% of the people from Newport probably don't venture any further west than the mall ----- not even for the hallowed grounds of Hamilton Park! They have a waterfront area as well as a walkway to Hoboken right outside their front doors.

I'm not saying they would make a killing anywhere, but LOCATION is an important factor. Rents are higher in Manhattan, so... Buut I think there chances of success would have been better closer to the Grove Street PATH station.

Too bad they weren't located in Manhattan. They would have made a killing!

The market that opened in the old Newport Pharmacy space probably took a bunch of their shoppers.

Why do they have to be near Grove to cater to Newport + HP residents.

What is Hamilton market? Never even heard of it? Too bad they weren't closer to Grove PATH where they would get more exposure although this would not guarantee success!

I admit today was the first time I ever walked in there. Everything was 50% of and the shelves were pretty empty.

Just curious.
