This one's my favorite : I stop on 8th Street and Erie (across Basic) and stop, to let the car on Erie, who had fully stopped, cross the intersection. Car behind this one tries to follow without coming to a full stop, I am halfway into the intersection and the imbecile gets pissed at me.

This is a common experience in downtown JC. So what to do?

This is a personal pet peeve of mine! It is almost as if the second drivers assume that because the first car made the full stop they are not required to do so. I see it happen all the time. For those of us commuting on a bicycle, this is a particularly scary situation, as the offending drivers are seldom on the lookout for a cyclist, which leads to close calls very often.

How many cyclists or pedestrians need to be on the losing end of a collision before traffic enforcement is stepped up??

The cops are there - FINALLY! - to ticket people who blow the stop signs on Erie and Manila. Hopefully it will make it a little less dicey to cross the street there.

take out your cellphone and --- try to --- take a picture of the car and the driver ... people like that.

With the way drivers treat stop signs around here, the cops have cause to stop 90% of cars on the road; no need for "random checkpoints".

downtown Steve, you'd be the first liberal douche crying if YOUR rights were violated by a negligent, drunk, underinsured or uninsured driver. And by rights i mean your right to live your life enjoyably with limbs functional or intact.

Typical, flagrant denial of responsibility by a liberal.

Look both ways, Stevie!

Driving is a privilege, not a right. If people are driving like a-holes or don't have licenses or insurance etc. they should be pulled off the street. This city has become like a third world nation with the way people drive.

We should let them go through people's houses too! You never know what they might find!

Riiiiiggggghhhhtttt. As much as I'd love to argue this point with you, it'd be more productive to just hit my thumb with a hammer.

This is a very busy intersection. Kids are going to and from the Charter school. Peopel are walking to the trains. The cars fly thru on Marin at top speed racing to the tunnel. The police car makes everyone slow down.

Possible. They're looking to speak with a resident of the building they can't find.

Anyone else notice cops are pulling over random vehicles right just before the intersection of Manila/9th? Usually around 9am-10am then sometimes from 2pm-3pm.

A police cruiser would be parked with flashing lights in front of the school, than an officer on foot randomly chooses a motorist and has a few words with them, no more than a minute or two.

I haven't seen anyone arrested/detained. Could this be connected to the murder in Montgomery?
