Friday 1/22
11pm Trevor Faurot
?You can Tell that Trevor Faurot is a big Radiohead fan by listening to his music. That?s not a bad thing, though, Some of Faurot?s music leans more towards the minimalism and experimentalism, using eerie samples and noises that I would imagine hearing a lot in a submarine. Other songs sound very personal, and would make for good rainy day listening? NJ .tumbler.com

12am Secret Photo?s
Secret Photos is a solo artist from New Jersey.? Taking his influences from hip hop to rock, Shaun Weeden blends slick beats and driving guitars over an honest tenor to create the sound that is Secret Photos.? Secret Photos' live sets are often unpredictable and often exciting. Weeden switches from guitars, to keyboards, to various percussion instruments during each performance while a drum machine provides bass and beats.? Those variables coupled with an unabashed delivery onstage always brings a fresh perspective to his live engagements.

On January 22, 2010 members of the band Beautiful Bear will be the backing band in performing the songs of Secret Photos.? The music will be re-imagined with live instrumentation.? On this night, Secret Photos will become a three piece band featuring guitar/vocals, bass, and drums.? Come dance on the ashes with us!? This is the only currently scheduled performance of this nature.

1am Caterwaul
Caterwaul is a punk/rock band from kingston New York. Started in the spring of 2005 and resurrected from the dead in the summer of 2008. Influences include Bosstones, Sheer Terror, Limebeck and the Misfits.

Saturday 1/23

12am Scott Krokoff
Music blogger Annie Reuter of You Sing, I Write, noted that Scott?s debut CD, A Better Life, ?can be eaily kept on repeat all day long? and that ?many of his songs could be easily heard on the radio.? ?after giving A Better Life a close listen I?m glad Krokoff quit his day job to pursue his passion.?

1am Nipsey
70?s rock mixed with punk and blues and in your face guitar mayhem. An trips to outer space. Nipsey is a four piece band straight out of Hoboken NJ and a staple on the local music scene since 2007

?12am Ugly Purple Sweater
Sam McCormally and Rachel Lord make up the core of the spiraling mass that is Ugly Purple Sweater, a stone-soup of folk instruments, indie rock sensibilities, and melody-driven arrangements. They sing songs about surviving the apocalypse, falling in love after the apocalypse, the apocalypse as metaphor for gentrification, and God.

The Brooklyn trio, featuring Jocelyn Mackenzie on glockenspiel and melodica, Emily Hope Price on cello and Jeremy Styles on acoustic guitar, features silky, three-part vocal harmonies, equally alluring and arresting. Say what you will but the Iron Monkey has outlasted most of its competition in and around the area which in the food and Bev industry is considered a Miracle.

I've been hanging there on and off for the past 11 plus years as well and take my hat off to this establishment constantly trying to re-invent itself iregardless of success or
failure at that moment.

I've been going to the IM semi-regularly since about 1998 and mostly enjoy it, but then again I don't seek creativity and positive energy when I want to have a few beers.

first the impossible 100 beer contest.. and now drop your girlfriend off and leave night?? seriously, you need to hire a marketing/pr person. iron monkey is a cool spot, but you're going to end up losing business with these ridiculous (and morally questionable) ploys. it makes me not want to go, and i already like the place. i promise you won't be drawing in new customers, you'll be losing the ones you already have.

Can you drop off a wife, too?

I used to like the "LQ, your club and concert calendar!" promos.

"Ladies night at Hunka Bunka! Ladies 11 years old to party, 21 to drink! Guys - 26+ with proof of $150K income!"
