I hope there are others like me who luv grapes with seeds. Just can't even remember the last time i saw them let alone bought them in grocery stores.

Does anyone know where i can find some? I've tried so many times with no luck. Willing to schlep far and wide for them.

This place sounds interesting, so I thought I'd pass on the article. Too bad PATH to WTC is closed on weekends.

On a less vegen note - I tried the bbq quail from the 440 Asian Market. Very tasty - $5.00 for two. I think one on a bed of greens would make a great first course for a special dinner.

Coincidentally, FloFab mentioned a market at Grand and Hester in her column yesterday which I figured gave it some cred which I planned on trying. I think I'll stick to WF and that place in Newport that is not called William Sonoma.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but I bought frozen corn tortillas imported from El Salvador today at La Conga - just masa and water. They are pretty thick, like an arepa.

Not a sourcing request, but a brand recommendation -

Recently learned that Japan produces combo miso/dashi pastes. I bought some and it was quite good. Curious if anyone thinks one brand is superior to the others.

Anyone know where I can get Yacon syrup from? Whole Wallet up in Paramus failed - the guy said they've had requests for it, but they don't stock it.

Spelt is readily available at most health food stores with bulk grains. Bob's Red Mill makes several spelt flours. The Pathmark on Grand carries a lot of the BRM products, as does the Corrado's in North Arlington. I didn't notice if either one specifically had spelt flour in stock but if you call either one they might order it for you. Fairway has a lot of bulk grains and flours but I don't remember if the one in Woodland Park had it. I don't think I'm being that helpful but at the very least you can order it from BRM online.

Fairway had Kumato tomatoes, 3 one pound packages, on sale this week for $5. Great price for the only tasty tomatoes this time of year. I went to the store in Woodland Park (aka West Paterson) on rt 46 just west of where it connects to Route 3.

Anyone know where Nha Trang (RIP) sourced their char sui bau?

Also - you might have noticed that Sorento cheese has teamed up with an Italian cheesemaker. I tried the part skim ricotta. Truly disgusting. I tossed out 2 lbs after the first taste. Sweet and tasted of some sort of gelatine.

Partially frozen cutlets are actually fairly easy to slice thin, but I typically just hammer the cutlets flat to about 1/2" for uniform grilling and better marinating. They're surprisingly plastic.

22nd Street Butcher Shop in Bayonne on Avenue C, they did some veal scaloppini for me last week that were terrific and they do chicken the same way. They actually wrapped them piece by piece on individual sheets of butcher paper before they wrapped them.
