I had a great time too. I think the crowds were a little light this year because of the rain.

So I went.... and I had the absolute best time of my life!!!!! It wasn't crazy like people said... everyone was just having a good time.. it was all love. We marched with the floats and really cannot wait to go back next year.

The only channel showing it is NY1 on Time Warner Cable.

The Village Halloween Parade is the best! I always march in the parade, in costume. The Parade runs from around Spring St in SoHo up to 23rd all along 6th Ave. The sidewalks along the entire rout appear to be packed five deep for the entire length, so I think the best way to do the Parade is to be in the Parade. Just show up in costume at the beginning of the parade at nightfall and wait around for the start. Everyone at that end is excited and in a good mood! You don?t need to register, fill out a form or pay a fee, you just show up, but you MUST BE IN COSTUME. Walking up 6th Ave is all that is involved, there is no structure. There are marching bands and revelry though. The crowd along the sidewalk cheers you on and you feel like a movie star.

Went to the parade two years ago, dumbest decision ever. If you are okay with a whole bunch of people bumping/touching/yelling and otherwise totally invading your space go for it.

I've gone two years in a row. It definitely a blast and nobody puked on me either. I recommend getting there early. At least in the past couple of years the cops have been real sticklers about letting people around the barriers.
Happy Halloween and have a great time.
See you there

Wear something according to the weather conditions also wear puke proof clothing. If you stand on the west side of 6th Ave. in front of the library at 9th St. it might make for a better viewing area. Having stilts will help.

The Village parade is a totally decadent blast!!!! Lots of fun and well worth seeing. Having said that, the crowds are everywhere as are the police, on foot and on horseback. Barriers are all along the parade route and movement is restricted. Restaurants are packed as are the PATH trains. You also have to be on the lookout for protesters. They are more than willing to start trouble. It is one of those events you should see at least once.

So I am going for the first time.

Has anyone been if so what are your experiences, I understand the mob scene, that doesn't bother me. Also, we are going to line up to get into the parade (with costumes of course) has anyone ever walked in the parade? What happens if we gotta pee? Do we get let out? or are we stuck till the end

quetions, suggestions, tips, comments appreciated!
