I havent lived in either of those particular buildings but when i lived in highrises downtown i had some experiences with the window heat/AC units. I noticed practically all the highrises in JC have them. I think they put them in because it is cheaper than central air to construct. One highrise i lived in (Portside) would produce electric bills over $400 per month in the winter just to keep the place at 60 degrees. I looked for apartments without the window ventilators after that. Maybe Portside is an older building and the newer ones have better units? Something to ask about however.

Good luck and welcome to JC!

Hi everyone,

I am planning to move to Jersey City this fall and planning to purchase a 1 bedroom condo. I am considering 2 buildings: shore club south and Mandalay on Hudson. I cannot decide which one to choose. the prices are pretty close. the advantage of shore club is the proximity to Path train. but mandalay seems cosier and has better views on its north facing units.

Please I really need your opinions. Please share your experiences, frustrations and feelings on which building is better to buy.

Thanks guys
