I've actually never found it to be painful - each person has a different tolerance, I suppose. :) World Beauty in JSQ is where I go now, and they do a fantastic job, but I want a place closer to home.

From the posts above it looks like Ricky's may be the only downtown spot for threading.

Any other suggestions? The place normally looks quite empty which makes me skeptical.

I have a great spot in JSQ, but it would make life a bit easier if I could just stop somewhere in the neighborhood....

I have been recently certified in threading. I've done approximately 8 eyebrows, 10 chins, and 3 lips (not including my own). I am looking for clients who may not mind that I am just starting out and therefore i am not quick. I am only asking for tips (whatever you're interested in offering). I'm near Van Vorst Park. I need the experience to get better.
I'm also interested in any one who may be looking to help me get better with my technique. I'd really like to get a salon position!

Try
Instyle Hair Studio

Both Lucy and Consuelo are good.

WEBMASTER: The threading and waxing threads SHOULD NOT be combined.

I will admit that I missed the one post (about threading at rickies), but I believe that the threads were combined after I posted. I normally use the search function, but since the topic was already being discussed I decided to throw it out there.

Does anyone know of a place in downtown JC that does threading? There is a place in hoboken, but I would rather avoid the hassle of parking.

I know you asked for downtown, but if you ever want to venture into the city Unique Threading has locations near both 23rd and 33rd Street stations. They have a buy 10 get 1 free plan for eyebrow threading which doesn't use any wax. And have good rates on body waxing services too. The ladies there are really professional, imho.

Don't know if they have waxing but Rickie's on Jersey Avenue has threading. The girl did a great job.

Hello everyone:

Any recommendations for eyebrow waxing in JC? Downtown or Grove Street areas. Thanks!

my friends have been going to the place in india square for over 10 years. they are fast and cheap. i think it's got a pink awning, a little bit past dosa hut and the fast food places. i really wish i knew the name of it. i drove my friend there a few months ago, sat in the car and within 15 minutes she was out. her eyebrows looked great. i wish i could grow mine in enough to thread them but i'm too reliant on the tweezers...meh.

I just went to Little India to get threaded...just a note of caution for those first-time threaders, this may not be a procedure that works for everyone. I have friends who have been doing it for years with great results.

I was not as fortunate. I have super sensitive pale skin. This is what happened to me. I have heard that refrigerated neosporin applied immediately can help. My lip is still healing over a week later.

shes been to a couple of different places but the last one she went to there was all the way down almost by the intersection of tonnelle and newark ave, on the side opposite white castle. it was like $3 or $4, and they did a decent job. the hoboken one is overpriced, and the last time in the city she went to one on the lower east side that was also overpriced (relatively speaking).

To respond to the waxing question, there is a new nail salon, ultimate, 299 Grove st, they do a wonderful job. I highly recommend checking them out. The threading place in the mall is a kiosk..kind of strange to get that done with everyone walking by....
If anyone has a recommendation for a actual salon in Jersey City to get threading done, that would be great.

About the Newport Mall...is it one of those threading vendors that is out in the middle of the mall or is it in an actual store?

I've been meaning to ask this question - but about eyebrow waxing not threading - does anyone know if any of the nail salons on Grove St. do a decent job with this? I usually go to the nail place in the Newport Mall, but I live near Van Vorst Park & I'm looking for somewhere closer. Thanks!

Does anyone know of any spots to get your eyebrows threaded in downtown jc? I really don't want to hoof it to the city to get mine done and the place in Hoboken is overpriced.

TIA!
