The person who started this thread had it correctly listed as "Tiffin Box". The 2nd poster changed it to "Jiffin Box".

Quote:
A tiffin box is a compartmentalized box for carrying food in. [...] The traditional tiffin box is steel, round, and has three (or more) tiers, for easy separability of food. They pile up on top of each other and then the handles come over the top and lock everything into place. People carry food in them to work. Dabbawalas use them to take food to their customers.

Speaking of fast food I really don't think that they carry french fries, pizza or cheeseburgers as I can see it would be a little more healthier then that.

Indian, Vegetarian, and Fast Food. The top 3 things I don't do when it comes to food.

Yes, I was there recently. Good prices, extensive menu, vegetarian of course, sit-down tables, no take out menus, I was told at the time, as they had run out. Good food. I had the Mini Tiffin (1 Dosa + 1 Idly + 1 Vada + 1 Kesari)@ $6.50

The currys were a selection of hot & spicy and then green, coconut milk cool, then spicy savory curry. Vada was very tasty, doughnut-like and kesari were tasty, spicy too. The idly I liked least though as rather bland.

The dosa was terrificly crisp, light and long funnel looking similar to this photo:

Would try again definitely!

FastEddie, it's a reference to an Indian term - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiffin - mainly used in Bombay/Mumbai, where it's a box with home made food which folks carry to work or are delivered to children at school right around lunch time.[

Does the Jiffen Box have a drive up? Does the Jiffen box drive up speaker have a clown face painted on it? Will they tell me that my order will be ready in a jiffy? I know it's very fast but exactly how long is a jiffy?

I notice they are putting a new restaurant called Jiffen Box on Kennedy Blvd right near White Castle. Its in the old American Hero location. Does anyone know what kind of food they will sell or when it will open?
