Funny enough I too have an electric pole in my backyard as well.

Although I don't plan on removing it, I do believe you should start with PSE&G (they might remove it for free).

I don't believe you'll need a permit if you plan on taking the task on yourself, but you should verify with the building department

I have an old, obsolete wooden pole in my backyard that was probably used as an electricity/telephone pole in the past. I would like to have it removed.

Does anybody know if we need permits? If so, who provides such permits?
