From someone who is often performing the role of driver/chauffeur: thumbs up for the self-deprecating humor.

So, you tried and threw out all of it, the dim sum, the rice and noodle shop, the ramen shop, the bakery?

Or are you really meaning just the steam table? I would agree it's the weakest part for western palates like mine. But I've seen similar in other places like the late 555 and the Asian Market that cater to Chinese not American expectations.

What about the 99 Ranch in the old Pathmark plaza. The have a bakery and hot foods ready to eat section. Perhaps they might have those hard to find items.

I think he wants fried rice made with soy sauce instead of yellow food coloring.

I find Satay Malaysian Cuisine authentic.

I recently indulged my occasional weakness for fried wings, and found King Szechuan has brown fried rice.

I had the worst chinese food of my life last night at an exit off I-95 in Delaware. I ordered Kung pao Chicken, normally a safe bet. The chicken was soggy and the sauce was brown sauce with a half bottle of Louisiana Red Hot poured in. It was bright orange and basically inedible.

Be grateful for the great food we have here, and not just the Chinese.

What are the dishes you order the most -and what is yellow rice? I get white or brown -- but I don't eat fried rice.

Heights i have tried a bunch of places downtown, greenville, jsq, and mcgingley sq. Future on newark ave Super Sen hai on newark ave, goody on began, wang wang on bergan, #1 chinese on westside (literally tastes like the food was thrown into rotting trash and plated), china panda on westside, asian kitchen on ocean ave, happy wok on mlk, asian fusion on grove st, sawdee (they are good but so expensive and don't deliver to mcginley sq), great wall on grand, grand Sichuan on grove st (meh food that is insanely expensive), grand banks on Montgomery(rice is ok but their sauces taste like bbq sauce) . I have tried a bunch of places and they are mostly shitty yellow rice chinese food. I look at pictures on yelp of chinese food. Im serious about finding good chinese in jc. I grew up on Long Island and the Chinese food was mostly good so im confused why it's so bad here. Ive been in jc ten years and i mainly got big chef when the cook who actually salted stuff was there it was really good!
