How about, because if you do this (even though it might make sense), it is not PC. Since JC is pretty liberal, the citizens will not support a law that may be seen to discriminate. First pit bulls, next certain ethnicities, religions, genders?

Bad argument. Three of those groups have constitutional and statutory protections; one doesn't. Can you guess which is which?

why is it a bad argument? just cause they might be protected, the idea behind it is the same...

because if they are protected, the law won't hold up.

The city should impose a fine of $1,000 per pit bull and place that in a fund for things like this. Afterall, homeowners and car owners have insurance and dangerous dogs should be treated the same way.

I'm not quite sure what it will take for people to realize that there's no place in Jersey City for "aggressive" car drivers. Not only do they pose a serious threat to people and other cars, but they require the resources of our hospitals, police departments and lawyers when accidents occur. This is not to say that there aren't careful, defensive car drivers. There are. But, when they're not, they do much more damage than other car drivers. (I would grandfather in, those aggressive car drivers that are already here.)

You mean "distracted" driving? "aggressive" driving is very subjective...

Sure, that's fine

Not snarky or unserious. Unless you think car accidents aren't a serious problem. Just showing how your logic doesn't hold up.

This is not to say that there aren't loving, gentle pit-bulls. There are. But, when they're not, they do much more damage than other breeds. JERSEY CITY -- An 8-year-old boy was brutally attacked by a dog that bit his ear off while he played in the backyard of an Ocean Avenue home.

Quynton Curry has been recovering from the April 5 attack at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, and now his family is trying to raise money to help with his medical expenses.

Police say a 30-year-old woman tied the pitbull to a gate of her Van Nostrand Avenue at about 7 p.m. on the day of the attack while she brought groceries inside the house. The boy was playing with a group of children in the Ocean Avenue backyard adjacent to the 30-year-old's home, according to a police report.
