Good luck!

I saw another place on Garfield selling used tires today-at the light where you turn to go to the Turnpike. Might be worth a shot. And depending on your car, if you have rear wheel drive you should buy four snows, two won't do. And it's recommended to (if you can) go one size skinnier to give better grip.

Find your tire size and call all the used tire places -- also keep in mind tires have a DOT date code (google it) - and don't go beyond 5 years old.

Also call

Thank you everyone!! And yes, I will need them balanced as well. We're new and want to keep the $$ local.

The place on Erie will mount tires, but they don't balance them. Not much of a problem if you only stay in town, but at highway speeds fun may ensue.

For new, Tirerack.com has a bunch of places around town and will delivery to them. Very reasonable way to shop, and you're not limited to the random thoughts of a counter jockey telling you what to buy.

+10 on Tire Rack, I bought tires from Tire Rack and had them mounted at Epic Auto Care, great service and prices from both.

I have a shop I use in Linden that will sell, mount and balance used tires. I used them when my car had a blowout and I couldn't get the exact tire to match it without a three day wait. They put on a similar tire and balanced it until the exact tire I needed arrived.

Would the Fix-A-Flat place on Erie do that? They've always been super accommodating to any help I've asked them for.

That's what came to my mind, too. If you want something old and cheap, they may be able to do it or tell you who can.

Either Firestone on 70-76 St. Hwy Rt. 139 (201) 918-3214 or West Side Tire 236 West Side Ave (201) 433-5123. With Firestone you get a lifetime free rotation and can purchase a lifetime balance along with a road hazard warranty.
