It's a private issue, it's not as if it's a street light or traffic light out . . .

4 of the number lights (6 through 9) on the clock face are already out on the new Colgate clock and have been this way for weeks. It looks bad. I wonder who's in charge of maintaining the clock.

The original JC Colgate clock is in Indiana, across the river from Louisville. It is smaller than the one we have now(40' vs 50'). It was moved in early 1900's. They are now debating what to do with it since there are no more Colgate plants left in the US. This clock can be seen in the movie The Insider when Al Pacino and Russell Crowe are talking in the car.

I think the building is literally falling apart. There were panels falling off the sides of the building, so they had to construct the scaffolding and covered walkways around the building to protect pedestrians from randomly falling debris. It's probably also the reason much of the sidewalk on Hudson near the building is gated off.

After all of these years, it is utterly absurd that they have not completed the necessary renovations and there is zero apparent progress being made. It looks a mess and they owe it to the neighborhood and city to finish the job.

It is illegal to advertise on buildings unless it is zoned for a business.

Yes its good news for waterfront infrastructure this year. The Stinky Bridge got rebuilt and the clock is back too. My cynical expectations of an interminable process in each case was completely off the mark. Thanks to those responsible for putting this stuff back to rights.

Noticed for the first time that the clock is now completely lit up again. They truly did an amazing job with the renovation. Looks really fantastic.

I'm surprised that some marketing co. hasn't used some of the high rise residential buildings facing Manhattan, to project some sort of advertising image on it. If they did, it would help reduce running costs for apartment owners!

Awesome! It's taking a long time, but the development of the small park around that area seems to be coming along nicely

Famed Colgate Clock returning to Jersey City Waterfront

By Terrence T. McDonald/The Jersey Journal

An iconic piece of the Jersey City skyline is on its way back.

The 90-year-old Colgate Clock, which was dismantled and removed for restoration in June, is now being returned to its spot near the Goldman Sachs tower. Workers began bolting the timepiece's frame into place at about 10:30 a.m. today.
