Thank you so much!! I didn't even know it was there and it is a lot more convenient to me than LI. I will check it out.

The Prime Food Market at the corner of 10th and Erie Street has plenty of bulk grains and exotic spices. And I know for certain that it has pure Fenugreek as I was pointing out the package of it to my wife a couple of weeks ago since she takes Fenugreek pills from time to time.

Apna Bazar actually had plenty of quinoa (2 lbs $4.99 or 4 lbs for $9.99), which I bought. Apna also *absolutely* had bags of "methi" powder which I saw for myself, but I didn't know methi was fenugreek, so I'll go back and pick some up when I have the emotional energy to deal with trying to park up there. They didn't seem to have wheat berries--when I asked for some they brought me barley, which I didn't need or want but which I am sure I will use this winter-- but I coincidentally went to the North Arlington Corrado's today for collard greens and fava beans and got some wheat berries from their incredible Bob's Red Mill selection. I may drive to Fairway in Woodland Park tomorrow.

Fenugreek leaves (methi) can be found on the front between the 1st and 2nd aisles in Patel (alongside coriander "dhania" and spinach "palak").

Fenugreek seeds (methi dana) can be found in the left most aisle 2/3rd along the way.

Quinoa isn't a staple in India, so you won't find it at the Indian stores.

Hope that helps.

Im guessing if you said "methi" they would have easily found u some. All the grocers carry it.

There is a Patel's and more than one Subzi Mandi ....if I remember correct.

That's a great suggestion, thank you! I think Apna Bazar had that brand of spices/herbs. Nobody I asked there--three people--could find me fenugreek, and when I asked for wheat berries, they wound up selling me two pounds of barley, which I didn't notice until I got home. I'll try Patel. I used to date a guy a block away from the first Patel Brothers in Jackson Heights and it was a wonderland. Is there still the Subzi Mandi place?

I know many friends and fam who use this. The Indian stores near Journal Square carry it.

If you know how to cook and store spices there is no way you will get sick.

Thank you! I didn't see this but I did hear about it. I bought some packaged quinoa and fresh cilantro and fresh okra, but they didn't have fenugreek so I am still on the hunt. Trying to recreate a millet porridge I used to have in the mornings at the SYDA Foundation Ashram up in South Fallsburg. It is a fantastic morning meal.

JFK blvd is a north/south road. Are you talking about Apna Bazar on the western side of JFK between Newark and Cottage?

Sorry, coffee had yet to kick in! Yes, I think that's the name of the place. Some of the produce seemed like you need to pick it over, but the bulk dried stuff looked pretty good.
