Surprisingly true -- after 9 or 10 pm it is really a quiet area!

Columbus Drive past Jersey heading towards 78 is actually pretty quiet ever since the roads were repaved. Most of the noise is from trucks going by every so often, and at lunch and dismissal when the high school kids run around yelling.

Can you clarify where this is? THanks!

Above Harsimus Cemetery. If you drive up Newark Avenue (west) and make the half left turn onto Pavonia just beyond Waldo Avenue, make a left onto Chestnut (first light) and go two blocks to Henry Street. If you remain and Chestnut and continue, you will reach the Island section after going over the bridge over the railroad tracks. Streets on the Island Section are Trenton, Elizabeth, and Waldo. Waldo is split in two by a pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks. The entire area is known to oldtimers as the Hilltop.

If you move into the area, the Journal Square PATH station is a 10 to 15 minute leisurely walk (west) up Magnolia Avenue.

1st & Grove...love the location and the noise doesn't bother me on my third floor but the level of noise has increased in the last year or so. Also the parking on weekend nights has gotten more difficult.

The pile drivers during the day have been very loud as well.

Have to take the good with the bad I guess

I 2nd the Island section, I had a bid on a place over there on Elizabeth.

For quite I would say
Newport
Bayside Park
Paulus Hook
Country Village
The Island

All these places seem to become a ghost town after sundown.

Curious to know which neighborhoods are nice and quiet vs. partying and loud. Cast your vote.
