You've got me stumped. I can't think of any place in town, at least not for years.

The Newark Ave groceries are good for what they've got but inconsistent. Often I've found the nuts are stale, packaged months ago and stored who knows where during shipment.

The "new place" on JFK (I can never remember any of their names) has been better. I'll try their pistachios. Thanks for the tip.

What are some good places to go to in Jersey City? I would luv to find a place to buy grains, nuts and other such commodities. Thanks!

For nuts, lentils, fresh vegetables (not organic) etc... the two Indian grocery stores in the Little India neighborhood of Journal Square. The most popular one (at the moment) is on JFK at Newark Ave. The best place to get pistachios in Jersey City! Also high quality brown basmati rice.

Try the Jersey City Food Co-Op, also Local Harvest site.

It's a little expensive (membership plus sweat equity) unless you're going to use it a lot. But quite a selection because of their distribution system.
