What people eat and drink and if they legally own a gun is none of Mike Bloomberg's business. Neither is is who's mayor of Jersey City.

Everything they have been bashing Fulop for can be found
in Bloomberg.

I am not arguing that Bloomberg is not a success. He is. If I ever want advice on how to sell some gizmo to a financial industry, or how to change the laws so that I can be elected thrice, or how to spank the whole City when they are naughty and drink too much soda - I am going to ask his advice for sure.

Problem is, - I do not have a gizmo to sell. My career is not in politics. And, if it were -- I would not want to be a city-wide-dominatrix. Nor do I need one. So, with all due respect I do not care much about his recommendations.

Bah, so should be Corzine under whose watch client's money disappeared without trace. Unfortunately, in today's America, if you have juice, you don't need to follow the law.

Now the truth, maybe a little crudely put, is badmouthing? Bloomberg is running a little dictatorship in NYC. He had the term limits changed so he can continue his own egotistical power trip of telling all who enter how they will eat, drink, smoke, etc.

CNN Money - Fortune
The rehabilitation of Steve Rattner
By Dan Primack February 19, 2013: 3:54 PM ET

Steve Rattner gets by with a lot of help from his friends.
FORTUNE -- Well, it's official: Steve Rattner's reputation has been rehabilitated, just two years after settling with federal and state authorities over allegedly participating in a kickback scheme to get public pension fund investments for his private equity firm.

From Andrew Ross Sorkin at The New York Times:
As Mr. Rattner sat across from me in Midtown Manhattan two weeks ago, his re-emergence as power magnate was well under way. He is the overseer of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's fortune of billions of dollars ? you could call Mr. Rattner a money manager but that doesn't capture the scope of it. He has appeared as a pundit about the economy on television (MSNBC's "Morning Joe," ABC's "This Week" and "Fox News Sunday," among others) and in newspapers (The Financial Times, Politico and The New York Times). And to take the story full circle, the Obama administration, which had eased Mr. Rattner out of his role [as car czar], appears to have re-embraced him, even using him to campaign for the president last fall.

As someone who extensively covered the private equity corruption scandal in which Rattner was implicated, Sorkin's story left a bitter taste in my mouth. Not because I begrudge Rattner the chance to rebuild his professional life, but because he did so through the enabling embrace of powerful pals who pretend that he did nothing wrong in the first place.

The most egregious example is Michael Bloomberg, a public official who has casually dismissed the allegations against Rattner as little more than media inventions. Even when both the SEC and then-New York AG Andrew Cuomo brought charges against Rattner, Bloomberg continued to turn a blind eye. And then, as if to prove his loyalty was to his friends rather than to the people he represents, Bloomberg let Rattner's new firm manage his vast personal fortune.

And then there was what Bloomberg told Sorkin:
"Steve is a good friend. You stick by your friends. And I don't worry about what people say... I never heard anyone say they wouldn't invite Steven Rattner to a party because of what was happening."

Really Mr. Mayor? That's your standard? Party invites? I guess you don't hang out with Rattner's former partners at Quadrangle Group, who blame him for their firm's demise. Or Quadrangle's investors, many of whom feel the same way.
Again, once again, this wasn't idle gossip. It was government lawsuits that Rattner paid millions and millions of dollars to make go away. Or, put another way, it was way worse selling a Big Gulp full of Mountain Dew.

The real legacy of Steve Rattner's legal troubles won't be to dissuade future private equity executives from (allegedly) trying to bribe public pension officials. It will be to make such executives pick the right friends first.

Right, especially not Goldman Sachs.... Bloomberg is offering big incentives to lure businesses back into NYC. I'm not talking about the WTC office space. I'm saying that Jersey City might benefit from the WTC as we can offer cheaper living space, which in turn will increase the tax base. It will also add more stress to the PATH system. It will be an adjustment.

Sorry to get sarcastic here, but you have to wonder sometimes if JC is being sold off for a bunch of beads.

One World Trade Center will be some of the most expensive office space in the world. I don't think too many JC-based offices will be looking to move to such a building.

You know -- I had heard that...

"Charlotte Reubens was born in Jersey City in 1909. At a time when few women aspired to higher education, she got a BA in accounting from NYU. She married William Bloomberg in 1934. He died in 1963."
( Click for more below -- she just passed away at 102 )

Are you sure this didn?t have anything to do with it? Like in 2009? Sheekey is Bloomberg?s top campaign hack err I mean advisor?(unlike Healy?s 2009 guys who were all caught with their hand in the till?

?And Bloomberg's top aide, Kevin Sheekey also has Jersey City roots. His parents were close to Healy's family, and some of Sheekey's relatives even worked for Jersey City's legendary mayor Frank "I am the law" Hague.?

I think you hit the nail on the head, its not the guns that unite them... its the running out of the room when disaster strikes that unites them! They probably met each other behind the curtain (that they ran behind when sh#t hit the fan)

Bloomberg doesnt care what anyone thinks of him. He has his billions. He will lend his name to anything that begs and promises support when he tries to become president. I guess healy really wanted some 1% republican support. What a hypocrite. Healy had to go out of state for endorsements since nobody in state would touch someone so corrupt with a 10' pole. He got the teachers union because his cousin mary is on the board of the union.

Good that New Yorkers care about us!
Let Mayor Bloomberg live without his millions as an average citizen for a month in this city...and see if he has the same opinion.

Mayor Bloomberg also endorses the Spectra gas pipeline, which certainly makes him the go-to guy on what's good for JC.
