How do you know that bit of information???

It's a joke, because you never actually get the race in the description of the criminals. Like telling us the dude was 5'10 and skinny with jeans and a hoodie but not say whether it was a white guy, black guy, hispanic guy is really going to help narrow it down. God forbid they actually list someone's race for fear of being labeled racist/prejudiced.

Not necessarily, it could've been one of those things where you'd normally pull over because something's wrong, but you could still drive it if you thought your life was in danger. Maybe he pulled over because his radiator hose blew and he said "oh damn, I need to pull over because there's all this smoke coming out of my hood" but then after getting jumped decided that he didn't really care about doing further damage to the car and got in and drove it anyway. The wording of the article might not be the most accurate. Maybe it was more like car trouble and not a full breakdown.

So his car breaks down but then he drove away? Sounds like BS to me.

That wouldn't be politically correct for Jersey City. You can never actually mention the race of a suspect. Unreal! It's like they don't even really want to try to catch them!

Maybe they want to consider Jersey City a homogeneous society.

A 50-year-old Jersey City man was brutally beaten and robbed when he got out of his car after it broke down in the Marion section early this morning, police said.
The man, who lives on Terrace Avenue, was coming home from work when his car broke down on Dales Avenue, next to the Marion Gardens housing complex, just after midnight. He told police that when he got out of the car he was quickly approached by six to eight men, who demanded his wallet.
When the man refused and tried to call 911, the men grabbed his phone and smashed it, and then punched and kicked the man to the ground, police said. The men then continued to kick the victim, who suffered lacerations to his hands and knees.
The attackers fled and the man managed to get in his car and drive home, reports said. At 2:25 a.m. the man called police to report the incident when his pain did not subside, reports said. The 50-year-old man was treated at the Jersey City Medical Center.
The man described his attackers as ranging from 5-foot-6 to 6-foot-1, with thin builds, reports said, adding that one of the assailants was 5-10, wearing a dark jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, with jeans.
