The PATH trains always smell like sh*t in the wintertime.
I'm convinced its because the heated seats are cooking the fecal-smeared underwear of our more mutant-like neighbors. Happy Holidays, everyone!

Perhaps everyone should have a crap smear test prior to entering the train. Kind of like the white glove test, just wondering who will be the proctor.

For a 15 minute train ride, yes.

Same unwritten rule applies for clipping your fingernails, brushing your hair, applying make-up, etc.

But hey, it's a city, we all mine as well live like animals shitting where we eat and having sex in public, right?

Your comparisons are weak because none of those things are bodily functions. Farting is.

Not farting gives me gas, so I'm gonna pass if I have to.

After you do so, the key is to look at the person next to you with disgust, throw the blame on them!

hold it in.. LOL! Do you also want me to stop coughing, picking my nose, wearing my humongous backpack, or drinking my coffee?

Coughing aside, as a general convenience to your fellow passengers, I'm sure they would appreciate it.

I would appreciate the coughing to be conceled as well. It will prevent TB from being passed from passenger to passenger. With all of these "new" residents and constant "world travellers" we must protect ourselves from disease and viruses.

I'm gonna fart in the PATH all the time now so I can see the reactions on here.

Also: puking on the path trains. Hate to say that a friend of mine did it once. It was a mess.

Last year I was on the N/R uptown platform on the downtown side a very large woman pulled her pants down and planted her butt against the wall and started to pee. She must have been holding it for a while because it was like a tidal wave on the platform.

If this thread survives and the 'how to fry a turkey for thanksgiving' thread that everyone loved has been killed forever, I will be shocked.

It happened to me last Friday. This guy "asleep" in the return home kept doing it over and over. No noise just his LOVELY smell. Meanwhile the woman next to me kept looking at me. Sorry sweetie not me. I once went to a Citi bank in NYC this woman was going about her business. Love cities.

I know, and I can't even say that it was a rookie mistake! Just dumbassery on my part. For weeks after my friend would IM me at work "Poop on the Subway! Stinky Poop!" and I would want to vomit on my desk.

Needless to say I and several other people ran out of the car at the next stop and breathed in a huge gulp of air as we sprinted down to the next car down.

Oh, come now. I'm sure you've lived around here long enough to realize that a empty or near-empty car is a sure sign to avoid that car at all costs!

One time on the N/R train I noticed that the subway was really empty. Score! I thought to myself, I can take a seat. I walked in when the doors opened and there was a giant poop on the seat and a homeless guy sitting near it. Everyone was huddled in the back of the train. I felt so, so, so violated.

I've noticed that all the trains are starting to smell. Not so much like farts or curry, but more like a soggy oatmeal, dirty laundry smell.

I was on the WTC train home one night a couple months ago when a guy announced to the car that he was going to poop in his pants. And he did.

Be grateful for farts.

Yes, it seems to happen at least 50% of the time that I'm on either the PATH or the MTA subway. It's disgusting.

I would think the roar of the train could muffle the sound of it all.
