It's a perfect location for our clinic needs.

We do not have the right to shut down the dog run for 6 hours.

The parking lot that you mentioned is used for the ball fields and the dog run. It's a narrow road and the parking lot is packed for the games. Cars are going in and out constantly. Too dangerous for that many dogs with that much car traffic.

This is the first time we have taken our clinic to all parts of Jersey City. Lincoln Park is the final location for our May Clinics.

This is pretty much always the case for dog licenses. The reduced fee provides an incentive for dog owners to have their pets spayed/neutered.

One could also argue that the fact that intact dogs are more likely to be picked up running at large and are responsible for the majority of dog bite injuries might be reasons. Animal control's time (and tax payer dollars) are largely spent addressing complaints that involve intact animals so perhaps it makes sense that their owners pay a higher rate (but that's just a thought).

1. Spayed/neutered dogs can't breed. Cuts down the population, particularly the abandoned dog population.
2. Cuts down on some of the instinctive competition and aggression of dogs to other "packs". (reduces dogs fights, people bites....)
3. Prolongs the dog's life and reduces their vet bills.

Well it wasn't a joke. I was never sure living here all my life. I never even knew it was legal to raise chickens in JC until that ordinance was brought to light. I don't have a fox right now i just wondered if it was capable of legally owning. Is a Fennec fox possible since it is the smallest fox?

I looked at some dogs people have as pets and saw that they were wolves, so i just wondered if owning a fox was capable.

I'm not sure if you are joking, but I thought it was an interesting question.

I believe foxes would fall under the category of potentially dangerous species by the state of New Jersey because they are part of the Order Carnivora and Family Canidae ? Nondomestic Dogs.

http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/dangrspp.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox

There are a lot of criteria you have to have for this permit and I would say most likely not, especially in an urban environment like JC.

So do you have a baby fox that you are caring for? and are you bringing it for a free rabies shot this weekend?

This is pretty much always the case for dog licenses. The reduced fee provides an incentive for dog owners to have their pets spayed/neutered.

One could also argue that the fact that intact dogs are more likely to be picked up running at large and are responsible for the majority of dog bite injuries might be reasons. Animal control's time (and tax payer dollars) are largely spent addressing complaints that involve intact animals so perhaps it makes sense that their owners pay a higher rate (but that's just a thought).

May,

It all depends if your dog had a rabies vaccination before.
The first rabies vaccine a dog receives is only good for one year. Each shot after that is a three year vaccine. If your currently licensed in Jersey City and just renewing, we have your prior history in our records. If you come to the clinic and this is your first time licensing the dog please bring your dogs prior rabies certificate or paperwork showing the most recent rabies shot. Otherwise with out proof we must consider it a first time shot. If you moved from another municipality, bring a copy of your dog license (the paper not the tag) which shows the rabies shot date and expiration.

To all,

Please call our office at 201-547-4888 if you have an further questions. We will be happy to answer questions and see what your individual pets needs will be.

Unneutered dogs: $12.00 per dog
*Must have proof that dog is spayed/neutered

3 Year License (Expires 04/30/2014)
*Neutered dogs: $20.00
Unneutered dogs: $30.00 per dog
*Must have proof that dog is spayed/neutered

Are the rabies shots free and the above costs are for Jersey City Dog Licenses? Can you get a rabies shot and NOT a license?

Yes, the rabies shots are free. The NJ Department of Health no longer provides free rabies vaccinations to local veterinarians, but is instead shifting toward providing the vaccine to meet the needs of "satellite clinics". Jersey City wants to ease the financial burden on our pet owners who must comply with the licensing laws. State law requires all dogs be licensed in the municipality the dog resides in. (Jersey City does not require cats be licensed.) If you have a current 2010 dog license it's valid until April 30th, 2011. If you do not have a current dog license and your dog is over 7 months old you must license your dog. If you attend the free rabies shot clinic and your dog is not licensed, you can license her/him at the clinic.

*Also, If you obtain the one or three year license and move out of Jersey City before the license expires it is transferable anywhere within the State of New Jersey.

Any questions please call 201-547-4888.
