Can anyone suggest a local contractor who installs yard fences? We're considering having ours replaced this summer (with either a chain-link or basic wood-stockade fence).

Or, if you've had something similar done lately, would you mind giving a rough idea of the cost? Thanks!

We used Artistic Fence once. They were professional, but the fence is falling apart 6 years later. Talking to people it appears this is about par for the crappy prefab stockade fences sold today. A couple of years ago my next door neighbor put up a new fence of 3/4 x 6 treated lumber on 2 x 4's, and it looks like it's good for the long haul. I just put up another matching section using 5/4 x 6 decking wood, $6 for 12 ft. It actually didn't cost more than the prefab sections, but I had to cut it and screw it together. No big deal and it looks great. Fortunately I had existing steel posts to mount to.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."
