I have eaten here twice and both times the sandwiches I got were fantastic. The Bat out of hell and the Grove. I also like the design of the place.

I think it's great addition to the neighborhood. I get home late most nights so dinner is not an option since they close at 8:00 so I do wish they were open later.

As far as the music goes, both times I have been in there they were playing classic rock from the radio which is fine by me. If I had a complaint it would be the placement of the speakers. There is one way down the hallway and another in the main room so you are listening to half of a song when eating at one of the tables. Not a major deal but if I there was a suggestion box that's my suggestion.

I think that what we're trying to say is that we're happy to have a great alternative in the neighborhood that offers really good takeout and we're trying to be encouraging to the owners and workers. Personally, I think that the music is inconsequential and is probably on for the folks that work there. I believe that the majority of their business is not for eat-in clientelle since 3 or 4 tables plus a 4-stool counter could never generate enough profit to pay the rent and worker salaries and cover the costs of the food that they're producing. After a 10 hour workday, I don't especially relish the thought of going to NYC or Elizabeth for some good takeout. My guess is that we're simply trying to be encouraging.

Music that sounds like elevator funk ting ting...I'm starting to think that P&6 must have hypnotic powers on all of you people. I mean, go to Mercato in NYC and try the Fave E Cicoria and that shit is AMAZING, the Italian Hot Dog at Tommy's in Elizabeth is AMAZING, my sandwich was very good, lot different than some of the adjectives being thrown carelessly here. In fact, a 16 dollar sandwich better feed 2, 3 or 4 small people, heck, that's an after dinner mint for me. But hey, maybe they had a bad music day, just stop playing cheesy bad funk pop sounds.

Just wondering, what do you consider sucky music?

had the beast recently. was quite good! perfect for the day after knocking back too many, ah, "hot cocoas" at a holiday party. its not as much of a "man vs. food" style beast as I feared it would be. a very manageable one in fact. and it stayed tasty more than an hour after i ordered it. my only issue was i thought the fries were a touch overseasoned with the old bays. But other than that those were deliciously fried to perfection. I'm sold.

The $16 sandwich is an entire loaf of Italian bread stuffed with meats/cheese etc... It can easily feed 3-4 average people.

I went back to try it.

Now that's a sandwich!

2 thumbs up!

There's no other good sandwich place in town.

You should try Monmouth Street Deli or Second Street Bakery. . .

Had "The Grove" last night. The meat, bread, fresh mozz were really good. The lettuce, not so great. I just took it off. It was around 7pm when I went so I'm sure it was whatever was left from the day. Overall great though. Hopefully this place stays open. There's no other good sandwich place in town.

This place is really good. Just a notch down from being great. The meats are really tasty but just on the tough side. You'll wait a bit depending on your order, but the flavors are there. The vibe is right.

And if you don't like the music, get off my lawn old man.

Stopped by tonight for takeout soup and sandwich and it was really terrific. Homemade chicken noodle soup was just about perfect, especially with the bitter cold weather. And the Eli Manning (roast beef, roasted garlic and horseradish sauce) sandwich was good as well. Happy to have a new option like this in the area. I recommend giving it a go.

If it's anything like their Hoboken location, they do a stronger lunch business than dinner, so it's not unusual in this case to be closed on Sundays. From the comments here, it looks like they've kept the same quality in the new location.

They are closed on Sundays, odd for a restaraunt.

I ate there the other night and tried the eggplant burger and sweet potato fries. Delicious. They also sell prepared foods to go, as well as cheeses.

Ate there today - highly recommend. We split the whole Eli Manning; it had quality roast beef and was great. Awesome add to downtown and the fact that they deliver is great... if only Basic could learn some lessons for those of us in the HP area.

Picked up 4 delicious sandwiches on my way home from work on Thursday and had a nice breakfast sandwich inside the joint on Saturday. Food was great and the vibe inside was very comfortable. Looking forward to stopping by on my way home from work often.

I swung by yesterday at 7pm to try one of their sandwiches for the first time.

Unfortunately, they were closed -- it turns out they close at 5pm on Saturdays and are closed all day on Sundays according to the hours posted in the window.

Just while I was making a mental note of their hours of operation and I was peering in the window (the place looks great, btw), a group of three people as well as a couple swung by only to discover they were closed too.

Hopefully they'll consider extended hours on weekends, and will post them on their website.

Anyway, I'll be checking them out at one point this week after work.

And... I walked over there, apparently the hours on their website are also wrong. They're closed Sundays. I got BonChon instead.

(Thanks, everyone, for following the travails of my day.)

WEll, finally someone answered and he said "You're calling a residence, they have new number now." It's the -0076 number on their website! I feel bad, I called like 5 times because I didn't know if they were just busy or what... Oops.

Just had lunch there today - a solid sandwich - everything tasted fresh and it was definitely filling! I got the 'grove' which included their fresh mozzarella which was excellent - looking forward to trying their signature sandwich next time - Could see this place being a great site for comedy shows/music as well...
