My satellite TV worked well during the hurricane which suggests that the cable companies are lying when they warn about rain and clouds interfering with the signal.

I have had Direct TV since June and I LOVE it, I had Dish also and I think they were A-holes my Dish went out way more then my Direct TV, plus if you refer someone you get like 20 off your bill for 6 months, so I only pay about I think 30 bucks right now for over 400 channels a month, I got the Verizon internet pair with it and total im paying about 60.00 a month for the internet and cable I would totally recommend Direct

We have Dish Network in our building and all too often the signal will disappear requiring us to shut it down and wait a few minutes for it to return.

Also, as noted, no YES Network, but we do get SNY.

it is good to hear that you've had no issues with direct tv. i am tired of the cable company ripping me off. 95% of the stuff on cable is junk imo

I got Fios Triple Play for 84.99 and the price is good for 2 years...

They charge 5.99 for HD Box, and 15.99 for DVR I just got 2 HD boxes..

Now Comcast is requiring me to get a new box (and pay more) to get the digital signal. I am planning to cancel but exploring options, including just dumping paid TV and just using internet or netflix. A few questions:

1) did anyone experience any outages with dish or direct?
2) can you get the small dish? i don't want no big-ass ugly dish.
3) is it possible to get history, discovery, national geographic, animal planet through netflix, roku or xbox?

4) how can pick up basic over-the-air channels without cable/satelllite - i have a tv from 2000

I have DirecTV television and Verizon internet. I have the highest package with DirecTV and I think it comes out to $140 for 2 televisions with 1 DVR. All of the channels are great and I really like all the sports options, but I still think its too pricey just for TV compared to what Verizon Fios seems to be offering. Anyone have any feedback on Verizon Fios service and pricing? They are advertising $89.99 for all 3 services, but how bad do they hit you for HD, DVR, package upgrades, etc.?

Thanks.

P.S. - To original poster, if you are a Yankee fan, you need DirecTV, as Dish doesn't have YES network.

Where did "DJC" come from?

I've never heard that before.

We finally dumped Comcast and went with a Verizon/Direct TV package. Had it for about 2 months so far and are very happy with it. It is also 1/3 cheaper and carries more channels. Good move for us.

I have had both, I am now with Direct TV, and I feel that they go out a little more easily then Dish and stay out longer too. Both are good prices

If you plan on watching SNY or the Bronx zoo (yes) you need direct TV as dish does not carry them last time I checked

I'm fed up with the expensive cable bill and I am thinking of getting satellite TV. I realize its not perfect especially in bad weather but I'm sick of paying a small fortune for cable.
