I agree that it is pointless to protest a BP gas station. Why not organize a protest at BP's North American headquarters or global headquarters so that MANAGEMENT hears our anger and disgust.

Just bought 180 shares of BP. If you guys do protest make sure you let me know. Hopefully it will drive the stock down even further so I can purchase some more at an even cheaper price.

I have to agree that it is really kinda stupid to go protest a local gas station - or to throw paint onto the signs of a local gas station. Yes a big catastrophe has occured - yup. And....we are all still dependant on oil to live. Many of us must get into our cars and drive off to work each day. Yup. Is this not the American way of life? How can the normal 'little person' try to change things? By throwing paint onto signs? Stupid.

This is hilarious!!

?There?s no valid reason for these multi-billion dollar international corporations to shortchange the American taxpayer,? Menendez said. ?Unlike the oil gushing into the Gulf, we can immediately stop the flow of government subsidies flowing to Big Oil and plug these loopholes when we pass this legislation. We could certainly use the billions of dollars lost in Big Oil giveaways to help balance the budget or reduce taxes paid by middle class families.?

****

PS ? Hey Obama I know you have been there ?since day one? but it is now day 52. Que Pasa?

This is hardly the worst thing BP has ever done. I stopped using them once they helped free the Lockerbie bomber.

This pissed me off a lot more than the rig disaster.

BP is a leak, a bad error. BP wished it never happened and is trying very hard to fix.

Perhaps the politicians should be kicking ass on the job front, and reducing burden of government.

According to the U.S. Foreclosure Market Report released by California-based RealtyTrac, a total of 322,920 houses received filing in the May, meaning that one in every 400 houses received an auction notice.

In April, total of 333,837 households received auction notice.

Though the filings have exceeded 300,000 for the 15th straight month, the foreclosure rate has receded over the past few months.

POLITICIANS should be creating private JOBS!!!
Cost of public works 39.81/hr.....a little excessive..no?

Also worth noting, that on the news this morning they reported some paint gun damage to a BP in Manhattan. All damages must be paid by the franchise owner.

On another point, when you buy a franchise, it's a risk because you are affiliating yourself with that company's brand, both the good and bad.

You can't blame people for being frustrated with BP and wanting to do something, anything to show that. And, being Americans, not wanting to travel that far, so the local station is the most convenient.

why people would want to protest a locally owned business is beyond me. BP franchises their filling stations, and each is owned and operated by the people who live in your neighborhood. Protest at Jersey City BP Scheduled for Thursday

By Jon Whiten ? Jun 9th, 2010

http://www.jerseycityindependent.com/ ... p-scheduled-for-thursday/

As BP continues to deal with fallout from its massive Gulf oil spill, federal legislation has been introduced that targets a series of tax breaks that oil companies take advantage of. Local members of MoveOn.org will hold a rally Thursday to call for passage of the bill, known as the Close Big Oil Tax Loopholes Act. The measure would, among other things, eliminate the cap on BP?s liability for the spill.

The rally comes just days after U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, a co-sponsor of the legislation, made a similar call at a Hoboken BP station.

THE DETAILS
Protest outside of Jersey City BP, 230 14th St. (meet on corner of Erie and 14th); Thursday, June 10 at 4 pm.
