thanks Robustus. the numbers just work out better for me back home. Originally thought I would give JC a go and I did for 5 years, now I realize that it aint for me. This place has great potential that for some odd reason is not being realized. I've spent alot of time in downtown too but it just doesnt cut it for me from an entertainment, food, interesting things to do and streetlife sense. To me there is no real palpable energy in this town and I guess Im at a point where I am demanding more out of my city.
Shouldn't have to jump on the Path train everytime I want to do something interesting and really fun, (its annoying). I'd like to walk out of my door, or take a 10-15 minute walk for that. I know JC will get to that point (hopefully) some day but Im just not willing to wait the 10-15 years it will probably take.

sucker.

And just think before any of those buildings that were converted into condos only had to give the city one tax check per building. Now it is one tax check per apartment.

Of course you didnt like living in JC, you lived on Communipaw in Bergen Lafayette. Having moved from Brooklyn to JC, I must say I prefer the latter. There are nice parts of Brooklyn as well but I love downtown JC (I hate where you lived though:)) Re: taxes, NYC abatement is great, NYC income taxes not so much. Also, I paid roughly 15% less for my condo here than I would have for a comparable property in a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn . Also, your commute sucks from Prospect Heights , but I guess it probably did from Communipaw. Good luck and good riddance!

Are you really only going to pay $204 a year in taxes ? I don't think you moving will put a dent in the population trend here in Jersey City but this town probably isn't for you. You had to have lived here all your life to understand the logistics of the way things are done around here. If you were originaly from Brooklyn and you did say "heading back home" then you should have survived living here in J.C. Good luck and let us know how you made out.

Are you kidding, you really care or want to know how this person makes out ??, The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence, hope you don't buy into "Brooklyn's" hype, cuz thats all it is.....

Do you work in the city?

If so, enjoy paying city taxes on your income... which none of us do.

^ he's just jealous.

Sounds like you're moving to a better place, in a better neighborhood, in a better city, and paying less. Congrats.

As a bonus, you'll be surrounded by a bunch of hipster transplants. If you thought parts of Jersey City were populated by yuppie douches, you ain't seen nothing yet. Sounds like you'll fit right in over there. Goodbye and good riddance to you.
