We the citizens of Jersey City need to keep the pressure on and push their buttons until these times bombs waiting to go off explode.
Team Healy does not care about the citizens of Jersey City, so we must take matters into out own hands and make life uncomfortable for them. We need to make it so uncomfortable that they don't want to be out in public. Hell there are sections of Jersey City people cannot come out of their houses because of crime and the criminals and fear of getting shot. Most of Team Healy has been in office from anywhere from eight to sixteen years, under the Team Healy administration they have yet to seriously address the crime issue in Jersey City. Team Healy is too concerned with giving developers abatement's rather addressing a deep rooted issue such as crime. Quote:

At the demonstration this morning did anyone catch Phillip Flood, son of Councilperson Willie Flood, angrily slam down a flier handed to him outside City Hall? After doing so, mouthing expletives, he went across the street and got behind the wheel of a Mercedes, with dark tinted windows, mommiepoos, no doubt, and took off like a bat outta hell. They're all time bombs waiting to go off.

Vega is still council president. Pro tem measure just formalizes that Brennan acts as Preident if Vega is absent.
Healy did not resign. Just said the same things he's been saying since last Thursday.

The acoustics are just horrible in the city council chamber. Not that this has anything to do with the main reason why most people went, but did anyone catch what the second woman to speak was complaining about? Something about senior citizens, vouchers, farmers markets and out-of-towners. Sounded nutty but intriguing....

perhaps i'll get slammed for this question, or maybe i'll actually get some real insight, but why are they calling for the resignation of healy?
it is clear many do not like him, and yes i know he is "unnamed official #4" but he was never charged w/ anything. I understand the cries for vega to resign and i join in on them, but i wonder if adding healy to the mix will just hurt the cause to get those who are actually under indictment to step down. As for innocent until proven guilty, you are right. However, tapes don't lie, AND while you are fervently defending yourself against the US government, i have a strong feeling your not going to be able to live up to your duties to the people. The right thing to do is step down. if you're cleared i'll be the first one to swallow my words, but i REALLY doubt it will ever come to that.

I counted about 50 outside, and heard the AP reporter say 35. but inside the chamber, all seats were occupied, so there were more. I'm guessing the chamber fits 200?

About 2/3 of original crowd was gone by the time Levin spoke. He was 19 on the list - those still here were clapped out and flat by then.

That's probably because the PA system in the chamber is horrible. We could barely hear 75% of the speakers at the front.

heights- I was living in a VERY isolated community in Secaucus and do not drive so I looked for a more open place. And the art deco and community here, The Beacon, appealed to me. For the record, I do NOT condone corruption, and it is ironic that the mayor of Secaucus was caught up in this too.
sjcarolan- yep. But I WAS seriously thinking about leaving the country when GWB was re-elected. I decided that even my small voice was necessary for change in the US and stayed.
