The buses are not allowed through the Holland Tunnel, and no jitneys either - no commercial traffic is allowed through the Holland Tunnel.

I tried the Hamilton Park bus once from the city because it was nighttime and I didn't want to walk back from the PATH. Everyone else got off at Hoboken, and then the guy stopped to make a phone call. I moved up to the front of the bus to make sure he knew I was there. He then drove to HP, but I felt ridiculous and wasteful riding this giant bus all by myself. Plus it seemed to take forever to get home.

Thanks so much for posting this schedule! I regularly take a Shortline bus from Port Authority to my parents' house 7 hours away. It's a long ride so getting directly from PA to DTJC afterward is awesome! I've tried to find out from the NJ Transit ticket agents how to get back to JC but they told me the only bus is one that goes to the heights. I don't mind at all that this bus takes a less than direct route... it's better than taking a cab or subway from PA to PATH then home... with a heavy suit case! Thanks again!!!

oh, and i take the 126 (willow ave) bus. Its a different gate than the washington bus, and i could swear the hamilton park busses start before 6. You may want to check the schedule for the "willow ave" 126. Its out of gate 205 during rush hour...

the 126 is all i know of. Buses don't run thru holland tunnel b/c the bus station is the port authority which is outside the lincoln tunnel. Unless there's jitneys, but i've never seen them in that area going to manhattan.

Looking at the Bus126 schedule I dont think this really helps. In fact the 126 doesn't even end up in Hamilton Park for much of its schedule, and not at all on weekends.
I'd love another option for going to/from Manhattan from Hamilton Park where I live, especially non-rush hours and weekends. But the 126 goes from JC to Hoboken to Weehawken, then to the City. A rather LONG round about trip considering the holland tunnel is right there. I think what I'm looking for is a bus that goes from HP to Manhattan via the Holland tunnel. Seems like such an obvious direct and quick route to go to/from Manhattan from Jersey City.

Why are there bus-stops on two side of the park? Surely one bus stop would be enough? It consumes valuable parking space.

Robin.

The 126 bus stops on 8th St. at the southeast and southwest corners of the park and on 9th St. at Jersey Ave. The fare to NYC is $3.40 and and transit time is around 45 minutes. If you take the 126 from NYC to Hamilton Park you should ask the driver what the final stop is. Not all 126 go to Hamilton Park, most end the trip in Hoboken at the PATH station.

It seems that bus only runs into the city from HP 6:43 to 8:54 AM weekdays. Too bad. Return service goes pretty late, also only weekdays. Good to know. Does anyone know the fare and where it stops on HP?

It's good to know your options.

As someone in the HP area, it's not so bad in winter. I much as I'm not a fan of walking thru the mall. It is cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

I still get off at grove though to avoid it. Even though it's a longer walk.

Welcome to the hood. Pick up your dog poop.

I'm new to the Hamilton Park area (but long time Jersey City resident) I was wondering if there is a bus service from Hamilton Park into NYC. I know I could just walk to Grove, but I imagine in the winter that might be a bit of a hike and I'm just looking at all my options.

I've tried googling to look and came up with nothing.

Any help would be great :)
