It seems like they just used force to break open the door. the basement door is at the end of a hallway. doesn't seem like they got anything from the storage units fortunately.

several ambulances on coles and 3rd at 7:30 am as well. Seems unlikely that this is related to a break-in, but awfully coincidental.

sorry to hear about the thefts.

do you have any info about how they broke in, or tools they used. What kind of access to you have to your basement? is it a separate door, or storm door? You gotta just love JC scum

I live on Brunswick near 2nd, and someone broke into our building last Sunday with the same M.O. I'm supposed to store my bike in the basement, but had it in my apartment that night. Guess it was a mini crime wave. I hope their cut gets infected with swine flu.

Yes...I called the cops. I live on the corner of Jersey and 2nd. On Sunday night someone broke into my apartment building and stole 2 brand new bikes from my storage space in the basement. The 2 bikes were locked together with a bike chain, the thieves cut the chain and cut themselves while doing it. The cops came and took a DNA sample and finger prints. They were actually pretty thorough and took the theft seriously. I was surprised. I doubt we will get our bikes back though.

Saw 2 marked police cars, and an unmarked car in front of a building near the corner of 2nd and Jersey at around 7:30pm. I was outside and they were there for a while. Anyone know what's going on?
