Looks like it wasn't high school kids.

Either way, they currently keep Freshman in during lunch time, they wanted to progress to keep all kids in but it is just too difficult. Either way, I wouldn't support it. They need to go out, otherwise w/e they would do during lunch would happen after school. Ferris is not that bad compared to the others.

Assailant jumps from 2-tone Lexus
Saturday, April 25, 2009

A Jersey City man apparently suffered a concussion and other injuries when he was attacked on a Downtown street by a man who jumped out of a car Thursday evening, officials said.

Officers dispatched to Christopher Columbus Drive and Brunswick Street at 7:45 p.m. met the 31-year-old Wayne Street man, who had a broken nose, fat lip and a head injury, officials said.

A witness told police the man had been attacked by a man who got out of a white and beige Lexus with New Jersey plates, reports said. All the victim could say was that he was walking from his car to his home on Brunswick near Wayne when he was assaulted, reports said.

A police officer rode with the victim in the ambulance to the Jersey City Medical Center and the victim repeatedly asked the officer what had happened and said he could not recall the assault, reports said. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, officials said.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call the Jersey City police tip line at (201) 547-5245.

Ferris High school students were involved? What a shocker!

Can we get them to keep these kids in school during lunch time?

He never said that they were from Ferris HS, all he said was that they were high school aged. The information he had received was pretty vague.

Dixon Mills Security Officer J.L. approached me today and asked me if I knew anything about it or if I was around since I work that area in the early evening. I was already gone when the incident occurred. All he seemed to know was that youths, high school aged were involved and that's it.

I would consider it to be downtown...Brunswick is recognized as downtown in the Hamilton Park/Harsimus Cove area and this is just beyond the Village by a block or two...

Yes -

There were quite a few cops guarding the corner, and until I got closer didnt realize that there was a huge pool of blood, I didn't bother to ask what happened but the BCI truck was there was well...

They had this "downtown" discussion on another thread. It's still good to know, especially if you live in the area.

OK! This is east of the turnpike and Ferris H.S.

Can THIS be called 'downtown' and thus be taken seriously or has Varick street just become the magical barrier?

Does anyone know what happened? My dogwalker said there was a pool of blood on he corner of Wayne and Brunswick, very close to Dixon Mills, across from the school. The Fire Dept. came and washed most of it away. I walk there a lot, I think I may need to avoid. It was about 8 pm last night.
