WHAT? MTA? For Christ Sake!. MTA? Do you know where you are? MTA is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. It is a NYC agency. When you cross the river going west, you are in NJ. There is no MTA here. Here's a helpful tip. You see the NJ in front of NJTransit? That's a hint. It means New Jersey. Get it?

Dude, I said I had never ridden on a bus! Honestly all buses look the same. The path isn't njtransit I thought maybe njtransit covered just trains and the light rail. When you have lived in the manhattan for 5 years and then move to jersey...things just blend. The path is the only public transportation I've ever taken.

But thanks for the clarification.

I agree, the New Jersey Transit buses fly down the hill on Newark Avenue in the mornings - racing the stop lights.

Thanks for the good advice and if enough of us do this maybe it will make a difference. I have frequently had the same experience that others have had with a bus running the light at Marin and Montgomery. Sometimes it looks like the bus is cornering so hard that it might flip and it can't be fun to be on the bus either.

(please excuse lack of bus knowledge - I have never ridden on a bus)

It's probably N.J. Transit because the MTA is from Nyc.

You don't even have to call NJTransit --

https://www.njtransit.com/ContactUs/cu_form.jsp

I've used this a few times after almost getting hit/run over by a few buses. I note the time, the circumstances, and the bus number (4 digits, back of bus usually).

They always do a follow up and will actually call you to apologize, get more details and write up the driver.

I'm not sure if it's anecdotal, but I've noticed people driving aggressively more all over.

I drive the NJ Turnpike every weekend and have seen far more speeders/bad drivers out there than usual. Perhaps the stress of our current times?

Last year I was walking on Montgomery St. near Marin Blvd. at three in the afternoon. I was in a crosswalk on a green light holding the hands of my two daughtersw ages five and three. A bus came bounding around the corner and stopped short about three feet away from my toddler. The animal woman driving it must have been pissed that she had to wait for a little kid to cross the street so she started playing chicken with us- inching the big bus closer and closer until she was in the crosswalk a foot away from my youngest daughter.

The driver was hanging out the window so I yelled at her that we have a green light. The moron actually said, " Well so do I and started cursing at me. I would have stood in the crosswalk until a cop arrived, but I wanted to get my kids out of danger.

What a lunatic.

I had a close call yesterday at about 5pm. I was crossing Christopher Columbus going towards Montgomery on Newark. The light changed and as I went to step into the crosswalk a bus came flying down Columbus and made a right turn without even stopping. Not only did he do this without stopping and looking to make sure it was safe to turn on red, but he was going really fast and almost hit me and almost caused an accident. It was crazy! What an a-hole.

I nearly wound up under the back wheels of a NJ Transit bus making a right turn from Columbus one morning. They know the are going to win any battle when they make a wide right turn even though the pedestrians have the right of way. Your choices are limited to getting back on the sidewalk or letting the wheels flatten you. I whacked the back of the bus pretty good and dented it with the handle of my umbrella. I tried to follow it so that I could jump on it at the next stop and administer the driver a beating, but I ain't that fast. Taking the bus number and time and reporting it to NJ Transit might also have been a good idea.

They really are agressive. They are really bad on Montgomery and Marin. They could care less if you are crossing the street.

Every time you see this, write down the bus number/plate location and time and call the bus company explaining the situation. The dispatcher will record the incident and may fire or at least talk to the driver if a pattern is revealed.

Has anyone else noticed that lately the Jersey City public transportation buses have been driving crazier than usual?

Last week I was crossing on Grove st and had the "walk" signal when suddenly a bus flew around the corner and almost hit me.

Since last week I have seen more than a handful of close calls.
