This is all conjecture, opinion and emotion, not facts. But at least you admit it's a rant now.

But I do question your use of the word "allowing". As if anyone could stop you...

and obama really has to ask why us ingnorant middle class folks "clinging to our guns"

Must be nice living in a gated community.

Greenville - pictures dont count as a rebuttal. you can do better than that. Calling me a rascist because I point out that the system has failed is rediculous.

What you dont seem to get is that Cuba embraces the same system that creates these ghettos in our country.

On my days off when I in the city all I see are pepople sitting around on street corners day after day, you can't tell me they are all off that day. I left the house one day and saw this group of guys, young mid 20's early 30's, sitting outside of a house I left work early that day around 4pm and saw the same gruop still sitting there this time they were all drunk. I have to be honest here I go to work everyday even when I don't feel like it, and we've all had a job in our lives that we didn't like but went to it because it was all we had and needed to pay our bills, but we did it anyway. So why can't they I've heard people say they won't work in a fastfood resturant or pump gas because it's beneath them, well when you don't have an education what do you want, h*ll at least its honest money. I've some of the worst paying jobs in the world ,I've had some of the best paying jobs in the world I tell you this me personally I have never made fun of someone for the position they hold in life as far as I am concerned as long as you are legally working you are OK in my book. So for all that are reading this do us all a favor and get off your butts and become a productive part of this society and if you can't read then ask a friend to read it to you. Everyone has something to say about the immigrants coming to this conutry and taking jobs, why complain you aren't doin them anyway, at least they are willing to work. I think we should have an exchange program take all the people of the world who want to work and be productive and bring them here, then take all the people who want to sit around all day and have things handed to them and ship them off to an island, a barren wasteland and let them fend for themselves. That will make them alittle more appreciative of what they have here.

I have a good friend of mine who came to this country as a child, couldn't speak english. Managed to learn the language, left home at the age of 14 because he didn't agree with his fathers way of thinking, his father didn't like the american culture, worked at night while he went to high school during the day, had to work two full time jobs while he was putting himself through college because he made too much money for financial aid, so he had to take out loans to pay for school. Took him seven years to get his degree. So if he could do with all things against him then so can others.

So before we get into a great debate on the social economics of the nieghborhood and they are disadvantaged and how the people there are uneducated that is why they reacted the way they did when the police showed up on a DRUG raid, lets stop and just leave it as some, not all, of the people there just don't care they don't care how they live, they just want to do whatever they want when they want and don't belive they have to be responsible for or held repsonsible for anything. Some of them believe that they shouldn't have to follow the rules because its thier nieghborhood and nobody should be able to tell them how they have to live in it. And its not just that nieghborhood, there are others just like it. Well to that I say too bad if the rest of have to follow the rules then so should you.

Thank you for your time.

The "rat's nest" is the open air drug market that has infested this neighborhood. These dealers and their customers/supporters are so brazen that they would attack local police with bottles.

What does one expect to find in a Jungle? These Sub-humans have no boundries regardless if your a person of authority or not.

Its the bleeding heart liberals in Gov't that have fermented this enviroment and allowed for these low-lifes to exist in this manner.

The DNC should of held their convention in the heart of this neighborhood, would love to see Michele get on her High horse and talk about how proud she really is....

What a Joke !

CK

This is kind of a waste of time, I know, but I'm going to say it anyway.

There is no question that the conditions in the neighborhood in question are bad, like unlivably bad, and that the behavior of some of the people in that neighborhood contribute to that condition, even cause it.

I do not question that there is a antisocial element that is downright dangerous. I avoid those areas myself, which pisses me off.

The other side of this argument has to do with racial and socio-economic profiling. I don't know what this particular person's problem was. From the description, it sounded like he was going for suicide by cop. Who knows what that's about.

My point is that the language we use to talk about this is significant. People who are in the process of killing each other and themselves don't need further dehumanization. It's no antidote to any ill.

OK, you're venting. But let's not pretend it's an argument of any sort. That's just weak.

Not an argument, just stating the facts.
Thanks for your eloquent rant BTW.

Instead of rooting the rats nest out - "their hood" really should be left alone. Without police patrol, government help, garbage pickup, electricity or running water. Use the extra tax money to record a live TV show from a helicopter.

This is just another example of the failures of social programs in our inner cities.Housing Projects, section 8 and unlimited welfare create this vicious cycle.

Socialism is a failed system and some just need to come to grips with it.

referring to these people as "rats" isnt over the top. The people throwing bottles at the police in this instance are the absolute scum of the earth. You can thank socialism for creating these animals.

Close to 100% of the residents in this area rent they have no accountability, responsibility, nor liability for the neighborhood they live in. Most of the owners are absentee landlords with XXX St. J.C. N.J. 0730X INC. LLC. as the listed owner. Even in the area of Hurricane Katrina the government offered applications for mortages for those that lost their residences and 85% were rejected for low income, bad credit, or both. Some say blight the area and remove all decedent evidence.

These are our neighbors, darn I missed National Night Out. I'm sure if you needed a cup of milk or a cup of sugar they would accomodate your unexpected needs. Perhaps the crowd in the Google street picture should go to some of the council meetings or even a local block association meeting to be heard. By the looks of that picture those glass bottles were not that hard to come by with that liquor store in the background. I bet Mr. Rogers didn't live in a neighborhood such as this. "It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood, won't you be my neighbor, will you be mine?"

Wow. Everyone should really take a look at the street view. The billboard for "WeBuyUglyHouses.Com" really completes the scene. That intersection is awesome.

That might be the most accurate description of an area that I've heard in a long time!!!

What exactly is the "rat's nest" that you're referring to and how do you plan on rooting it out?

Cops square off with crowd, one arrested
by Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal Tuesday August 26, 2008, 1:19 PM
Members of a violent crowd threw bottles at police officers after a narcotics arrest last night, at Bostwick Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive, reports said.

Numerous officers responding to the "open air drug market" at 6:39 p.m. arrested Quadia Culbreath, 20, of Bostwick Avenue, reports said.

Culbreath was charged with obstructing a government function, resisting arrest and failing to disperse, reports said.

As backup officers arrived at the trouble spot they were confronted by an unruly crowd of 30 to 40 people, who were cursing and throwing bottles, reports said. As the cops tried to break them up more people joined the crowd and Culbreath showed up with six to eight people, reports said.

The officers ordered Culbreath's group to leave and he began cursing at the cops, and telling the others, "Don't listen to these mother (expletive). This is our 'hood," reports said.

When Culbreath was told he was under arrest he put his hands up in a fighting stance, reports said; he then backed up into a vacant lot and squared off with the cops saying, "I ain't going nowhere. You can lock me the (expletive) up. I ain't going to court," reports said.

The officers struck him in the calf with a retractable baton and then took him into custody, reports said.

While being processed, police found there was a warrant for Culbreath's arrest for failing to appear in court on another matter, but the police report did not say what that other matter was.
