Hooray!!! I wish there was a 24-hour diner down here with a good atmosphere and great food within walking distance. Me, my boyfriend and our friends quickly drive into the city sometimes late at night on our off days just to grad a bit to eat in a place with good food and a good atmosphere. The only downfall is risking it becoming a late night hangout spot when everything else is closed.

I believe he said they did make sandwiches to order as I was rushing out the door. I need to head back that way in a few minutes and I'll ask him. I'll also see what other stuff they have and post what I discover.

I spotted a brand-new place called Marrow Deli that just opened today on Jersey Avenue between Wayne Street and Christopher Columbus Drive (right next door to Sushi Tango and across the street from Big Chef and Wonder Bagels).

I spoke with the clerk and he was very excited to be open for business. He greeted me with a big smile and told me that they plan to be open 24 hours a day starting next week.

They feature Boar's Head meats and prepare sandwiches to order. I was only inside for a second, but I saw that they have cold drinks, ice cream, canned soup, candy, gum and all kinds of convenience store-type items you would find at such locations as A-1 Deli on Grove Street.

Everything inside is freshly-painted, shiny and brand-new. I am happy to see that they're right around the corner and I hope they're here in the neighborhood for a long time to come!
