Nooooooo! Shutting down that fine establishment? Don't even think of it.

What we do without the convoy of blaring bass-lines after closing time (early Sunday morning) when they all come up Jersey Avenue and go back to wherever the hell it is they come from?

It's like a little Puerto Rican Day parade every week, except without all the flags. Oh wait ---- now that I think about it, some of the cars have them permanently mounted anyway.

Just because they replace the sandbar with luxury condos doesn't mean they can't add first floor retail. They haven't done a good job of it so far but hopefully that picks up.

I hope not, they took away the barge which was the best place to sit and enjoy a pint on a nice day, unfortunately it's almost time to find a new jersey city, one which will remind me of it's wonderful past.............without all the Manhattan dormitories.

They're sitting on prime real estate, that place will be a luxury condo before you know it.

This place is a joke, someone should shut this shit palace down and make it an actual spot where people could enjoy themselves without getting taunted by schmucks with brains the size of pecans, and nothing to show for accept their waxed eyebrows and lack of manhood concealed in their too tight briefs. Let's take this place back for the good of the real residents of Jersey City!

Stab victim identifies two men in brawl
Monday, July 30, 2007
By CHARLES HACK
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

Two men were arrested after reportedly stabbing a man during a street fight outside the Sand Bar Cafe in Jersey City Saturday.

Carlos J. Amorim, 25, of Port Avenue, Elizabeth and Carlos M. Pereira, 23, of Summit Avenue in Newark were arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and on outstanding out-of-town warrants, police said.

Police responded to reports of a street fight at the northwest corner of the Sand Bar parking lot at 100 Marin Blvd. at 3 a.m. When they arrived they found a 35-year-old man with his shirt off and bleeding from wounds in his ribs and left wrist, police said.

Two suspects who were found nearby, with blood on their shirts - which were also taken as evidence - were arrested, police said.

The victim, of Pearl River, N.Y., told police that he was walking to his car with three female friends, when they saw Amorim urinating in front of a red Jeep Cherokee, and Pereira standing next to him.

The victim told police Amorim then made a lewd comment to one of the women, reports said. After the victim asked "What is going on?", the two started to punch him around the head and body, police said.

The victim reported that Amorim then lunged at him with a knife, but was not able to get him. Amorim then handed the knife to Pereira, who stabbed the victim's wrist and rib cage, police said.

A silver four-inch folding knife with blood on it was found about 100 feet away from where the incident took place and taken as evidence, police said.

The Sand Bar Cafe, which only opens for six months of the year, has become a focus for the JCPD, which responded more than two dozen times to "skirmishes, fights and disturbances of the peace," last year, according to city spokesman Stan H. Eason.

Late-night noise complaints from residents living near the bar have also prompted the City Council to introduce an ordinance to stop outside entertainment in the city at midnight on the weekend and 11 p.m. during the week.
