click on the link above - you can get about 15 years of tax history by quarter on your property

Thank you - this is so helpful! Realtors should give this out...

Like everyone else, I was in shock when I saw it was due today. But I called. We have until the 25th to pay. I got my bill later in the day too with the same information.

In general, are taxes supposed to increase in 2nd quarter and then decrease in 3rd? this is what our real estate attorney told us - but i'm wondering if this seems to be the case in real life or not...

The 2nd qtr bill showed up in today's mail. It is the same amount as is posted on the website.

The city's cultural calendar did too - how much are we paying for the Mayor's block parties? What is the etiquette at these events - does he have to get drunk before exposing his genitalia? Must one actually see "it" before exclaiming 'what a dcikhead!" Miss Manners's line is busy, so I ask you all.

I went to City hall this morning. The bills went out late and should be in today's mail. I was told that the 2Q is still estimated and my 2Q amount increased 7% over the 1Q. What's up with this year's budget??

thanks rose -

I just looked up my taxes for the quarter - 5.6% increase over last quarter, but noticed that last year my taxes varied by quarter too.

I hit the Pay My Bill Now Link - city does not take Visa and charges a 2.25% convenience fee for paying on line. As far as I know we still can't make e-payments for taxes directly from checking accounts. From a technological point of view this system is as old as our sewers and stinks just as much.

Rosember - did you compare year to year or quarter to quarter? I think that there have been years where annual taxes stayed the same, but the amount due per quarter varied but added up to what was original yearly tax. Maybe debt coming due varies by quarter.

One thing you can say about JC taxes, they'd be a bargain at half the price.

They are up again, by about 6% from last quarter, whiich makes the total increase over 30% from the same period last year. You can see your bill online at the Jersey City web site, they will probably be mailed this week (if not mailed yet), and I would guess that they will extend the due date to the end of the month.

Has anyone received their 2nd quarter property tax bills yet? May 1 is typically the due date.

Every year, the 1st and 2nd quarter "detach and remit" coupons are usually sent in the same document, but not in '07. The 1st quarter tax bill came solo.

I guess I'll take a walk to 280 Grove with a checkbook in hand, unless anyone knows what the story is.

Thanks.
